Srinivas University BBA Review By Sampada Tupgaonkar

Srinivas University is located in Karnataka. There are 10 colleges under it, and these include like the social sciences college and physiotherapy college. The management college is associated with Mangalore University, and it has a NAAC grade A. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Srinivas University Admission application can be done online, and you’ll need to have certain documents like your class 12th marks sheet, fitness checkup certificate, and Aadhar card. After admission, you should pay a fee of Rs. 30,000 and that will be put towards your fees in first year. Will explain in detail on each section as the University is one of the highlights of my hometown, Mangalore.

I joined the BBA honors course here, and I mainly chose this college due to how close it is to my house. I can basically walk there, and it is located in the city. I grew up in Mangalore itself, so I got in to the college after writing the CET through CET quota. The course is six semesters long. I was satisfied with the subjects and they challenged me. It was very different to PU as you had to be more independent. I chose to go on and get an MBA, but many of my peers got placed and had a job right after their bachelors’ degree. When I started my MBA, I was pretty well-prepared for it after getting my BBA here.

The university has over 150 teaching staff. Almost all of them have their masters’ degree, and some of them have got their PhDs. There was a good mix of both young and older teachers with the average teaching experience years being around 6 -7 years. The teachers in my college were good throughout my six semesters. They made learning more interactive instead of just giving lectures. We got to have class discussions, and role-play to really understand concepts in depth. This helped me to visualize and learn better. Also, most of the teachers are open to you coming to their cabin and asking any doubts. Usually just during lunch time they are not available, so aside from this you can go during the college hours and make use of it. They take more time to explain to you one-on-one.

Srinivas University Placement rate is high, and they bring in more than 40 companies every year. There is also a pre-placement program that happens every year, and the college faculty provide training for job interviews like with mock interviews and skill training. Then, later in the year the companies come, and you can attend how many every interviews that you want until you are placed in a company. Some companies that came during my placement year were Chegg and Muthoot Finance. The average package during the year that I graduated was Rs. 4-5 lakhs per annum. The highest was Rs. 9 lakhs per annum. The placement picture was okayish as I expected more but it is what it is.

There are both girls and boys hostels located on the college campus itself. I travelled from home, so I don’t know much about it. I have heard that the price of the hostels is pretty less when compared to other college hostels. There are mostly three seater and four seater rooms. They provide meals three times a day, Wi-Fi, and there’s indoor and outdoor game facilities available for games like carom and badminton. Mostly only south Indian food is provided, and as far my knowledge, most people end up moving out of the hostel after their first couple semesters. There are many accommodations near the campus itself. Srinivas University Hostel in a way was average and for the ones who can’t adjust to South Indian should avoid the hostel too.

The university is spread across a lot of land, as it has to be because it has ten colleges under it. There is a lot of open space, and places to sit and do your work across the campus. There are the usual facilities like library and sports fields. Some of the sports teams in the college are kabbadi and badminton. Many students have represented the University in these sports at the national level. They have indoor and outdoor courts for badminton. There is a central library where you can find books related to almost all the courses that the university provides. There are 3 canteens and all of them had a repertoire about them because there were all different from each other. One served fast food, one served tea and coffee, while one served complete food.

Aside from academics, there is a lot of stuff happening throughout the entire year at this college. From the beginning of the year to the end there is some event like first there is freshers’ day to welcome the incoming freshers. Here, the seniors organize events for the freshers. Then there are other events like sports’ day, onam celebration, and MAGMA which is the annual Management fest. There are also other competitions throughout the year like the mehendi competition, face painting, essay writing and styling of hair. You can get involved in different clubs and committees which not only looks good on your CV, but also helps you make friends and enjoy college life.
