Himachal Pradesh University, Regional Centre (Dharamshala). is part of Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla and located at beautiful place known as Mohli (Khanyara) which is around 8km from Dharamshala. What to tell you about this place as this place is right heaven for students who don’t want to get distracted and want a peaceful environment. The place has been a mix of village environment and a little bit of touristy vibes. Although it’s not that much crowded as compare to other tourist places, most of the economy here depends upon the students living here who are renting the rooms and generating income for the small shopkeepers. Himachal Pradesh University are always been doing their best in all fields you can see the NAAC’s A+ accreditation in most of campuses and colleges.

I have joined the course of LL.B in 2018 after completion of my graduation. It’s a three-year course as most of the other bachelor courses. To get into this course you have to pass the entrance test which is organized by the Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. The test is the same for all it’s up to you which place you choose it can either be Shimla or Mohli (Dharamshala). I have chosen this course as I always wanted to become a lawyer or choose law as a profession. Although this course is not something like in which you get placed at the end but it opens the doors for you to do the practice. Also, you can prepare for further Judicial exams.

There are in totality 27 subjects that you are going to study in your journey of a three-year degree in law. There are in total 8 faculty members in the law department which also includes guest faculties. In each department, there are more than 5 faculty members depending on the subjects offered in the course. The average teaching experience of the teachers is around 5 to 10 years, you can also find the teachers in some departments with teaching experience of more than 20 years. Most of the teachers have a doctorate in their prescribed field of knowledge and their way of teaching is something you can find yourself how easily they can clear you the concepts.

It is the one thing in which I might say that the Himachal Pradesh University is not that great. Although in the law field it is up to you to first get enrolled yourself into the Bar Council of India then start your practice wherever you want. At the end of your 5th semester you get an internship under any lawyer which is compulsory. At end of your 6th semester you have to submit a case file of a civil and criminal case that you have prepared under the guidance of your mentor lawyer. It is compulsory as it also counts for 100 marks so you better prepare it if you want to pass your examination. Also, the internship is very helpful as it provides you a basic idea of the functioning of courts and the judicial system while you are studying so after the completion of your course you would already know what to do.

The hostel facility is not available in the Himachal Pradesh University, Regional Centre. It’s been a long going demand of students with the administration to provide the hostel facility at Regional Centre but it’s not going to be an issue for those who want to have privacy and live independently as you can get rooms easily here.

The Himachal Pradesh University, Regional Centre (Mohli), has been conveniently accommodating more than 1000 students and providing them with all the infrastructure they need. There is a decent library which provides you with all the books you need and other magazines and stuff. The classrooms are well furnished and have great desks, boards, and lecture stands. There is also a common hall equipped with a projector for seminars and lectures. The sport’s facility is also very good as you can get to play different sports and can also represent the Regional Centre in sports meet with other colleges. Here you get to play Volley Ball, Cricket, Football, Badminton, etc. There is also a Nurse to provide Medical and Emergency Support. The Canteen is also good hangout place as I eat my all meals in the Canteen it’s very fair price and has good food.

The overall life at the Himachal Pradesh University, Regional Centre is very easy, convenient, and enjoyable. Here a student gets to study in a very peaceful environment as the place is far from the city, so there is no distraction from the vehicles around here. Life here is slow and you get to concentrate on your studies. Although the campus life here is not dull there are so much happening and events that are going on. For students who want to explore and get themselves into student politics the place is a wonder for them. Here you come across Holi parties organized by the ABVP and NSUI. Also, both the parties held a function each year for their establishment.
