Roland Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences Berhampur is established in the year 1986 by M/S Roland Pharmaceuticals, a small - scale pharma company with an aim to provide well trained pharmacists to the society, who play an important role in developing quality drugs. Roland College of Pharmacy is affiliated to Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Rourkela and approved by UGC and AICTE. The institute recently got accreditation from the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The admission process into this college involves qualifying OJEE entrance exam or else you can even enroll through JEE or NEET Exams also. The college management is very helpful starting from the admission to the placement. They are always ready to help or assist you in every aspect.

I have enrolled for a Bachelor of Pharmacy (popularly known as B.Pharm). It is an undergraduate degree course for students passing 12th with science stream. I am quite happy with the course I have taken as in this emerging pandemic situation all over the world pharmacists play a very important role to produce new drugs that can be helpful for mankind. The subjects offered in this course is industry oriented and it also has some elective subjects in final semester which helps me to get exposure to my field of interest and also to find a job.

There are around 30-40 faculty members present in our college. They are highly qualified, skilled and experienced. Mostly the teachers for B.Pharm courses are PhD or Masters degree holders. They are not biased and treat every student equally. They use very innovative methods to teach complex subjects by using animated models or E- class. You can clear your doubts easily as they are friendly enough or else you can visit them personally to clean your doubts if you feel awkward in the class. The teachers also encourage us to prepare for various competitive exams like GPAT so that you can do your further studies in Premier institutes and also can get a stipend.

The college has an active placement cell which grooms students and makes industry ready. They also arrange various internship programmes and seminars for all students which will gain you some in hand experience. Top recruiting companies include Wipro, GlaxoSmithKline, Dr. Reddy's, Cipla and Macleod. These companies provide an average salary of 3-4 lakhs per annum. Around 40% of students get placed on campus every year. The highest salary package offered to one of my friends was Rs 5.5 lakhs per annum. The college has very good placement rate as it places a lot of students every year.

The college comprises 1 boys hostel and 1 girls hostel. Each hostel consists of around 40 rooms. The rooms are fully equipped with bed, study table and a chair. It also contains an attached bathroom. The rooms are spacious enough and are shared by 4 people. The hostels are completely under CCTV surveillance so you don't have to worry about your safety. Food served in mess has different varieties of dishes from north Indian to south Indian on a daily basis. Now coming to the cost they provide very good quality food at an affordable price. If you are staying in a hostel then your cost for food and accommodation will come around Rs. 30 thousand rupees per year which is quite reasonable.

The college campus is spread across 5 acres. The college has 2 buildings. It houses many Classrooms, department wise laboratories, a central library, computer labs, staff rooms, auditorium, parking areas and common washrooms. The campus has a beautiful herbal garden that has Medicinal plants in it. The college has also built an animal house recently. The classrooms are spacious enough to accommodate 60 students at once they are also equipped with smart classes or e-class. Library is fully air conditioned and also Wi-Fi enabled. You can find each book related to pharmacy here. Our college also has a canteen that serves delicious snacks, meals and coffee.

The college teaches us to be like a free bird and face all difficulties in life. Various events and fests like Annual function, freshers' party, and many cultural events are conducted throughout the year. Various extracurricular activities are also carried out in our college like singing, dancing, debate, essay writing, poster making and allocation competition by encouraging students to participate in it and showcase their talent and skills. The college teaches us to make a balance between studies and fun. Social life inside the campus is at next level you can meet with your seniors and juniors freely and share your views.
