OK so, I got to know about this college from a known successful physiotherapist. Every person with whom I talked about Deendayal Upadhyay Institute for the Physically Handicapped gave a positive review and this college had great respect and reputation among the people for two reasons. Firstly, it came under Central Govt., and secondly it was affiliated to DU. Also, this college was one of the top institutes for Bachelor's Of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy. The college has a separate entrance exam for admission. After clearing the exam, counseling is done, and according to the rank the student can choose between physiotherapy, occupational therapy and prosthetics and orthotics. The three different fields have one common entrance. For every official work, related to any document or fees, the student has to contact the college administration only. The management is okay but a bit slow, so a sufficient margin has to be taken before any submission's last date.

I joined Bachelor's of Physiotherapy. In every course there are around 52 seats in which are further segregated into reserved and non reserved seats. So, when the results come out, the course is allocated according to the rank of the student. The student with top ranks has the privilege to choose from any course. The entrance exam has similar pattern like that of NEET. Except, along with physics, chemistry, biology this exam has general knowledge and English as well. The questions are of MCQ pattern and level is easier than NEET. The examination center and counseling everything is done at ITO, Delhi which is near to the college. I always wanted to go in the medical field, and had a huge bent towards bones and joints, so I chose to go for this course. And apparently, the field is budding and has great future opportunity as lifestyle of people has changed a lot, due to advancement in IT, people have problems as they are sitting for quite a long time, therefore, many problems in body have emerged which can't be treated with medicines but only with physiotherapy. Thus, I was attracted to the future prospects. The subjects are quite interesting. In the first year, there are medical subjects like anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, microbiology, pathology, biochemistry and sociology. They are quite overwhelming but very interesting. First year is same for BPT and BOT and any other medical field. From second year onward, there is segregation for physiotherapy and occupational therapy students, though some subjects are same. Also since second year, main physiotherapy subjects start like exercise therapy, bio mechanics, electrotherapy and others. Physiotherapy has a base of physics. There is basic of current and mechanics in the subjects, but they are easy to learn.

During the first year, most of the faculty members are guest faculty as there are core medical subjects like anatomy, physiology etc. and they are taught by MBBS lecturers. For every subject there is a guest faculty in first year. From second year onward, college faculty starts teaching as they are proper physiotherapy subjects. The college faculty along with teaching the subjects also treat the patients that come in the outpatient facility of college, thus, they have good practical knowledge of their subjects. Most of the teachers have great experience in field and are post graduates.

There is no placement cell as such in the college. But different good companies and institutes come with job prospects individually. The placement percentage is fairly well.

There is a girl's hostel in the college campus only. The rooms are decent and are on twin sharing basis. The hostel is allotted only to the girls from outside Delhi and number of rooms is fixed. The hostel fee annually is Rs. 13000 and mess fee is additional. There is a female warden and no male is allowed in the building.

In total there are three buildings, one for hostel, one for classes and other for outpatient services. There are not much classrooms, but there are quite a few labs. The classrooms are fully air conditioned. Also, there is a department for pediatric patients. There is a library which has almost all books required for the course, books can be easily issued from there. There is no playground as such, but 2-3 gardens are there to sit and relax. A small canteen is there which serves a few snacks as well.

The college comes under Delhi University, but is quite different from a normal DU college. There is no such campus life as is seen in any other college. Since there are only three courses, so no such leisure time is there. The college life is more like department life. There are no such fests or cultural events. Freshers and farewell are the two significant events in this college life. Also, sports day is something to look forward to. Games are played in open areas. But since we have ID cards from DU, so we can attend any fest in any other college.
