Noida Institute of Engineering and Technology M.Tech Review By Ajaypal Bhadavariya

In NCR, there are ample choices and most of them accept any entrance score and gives you admission. NIET is different as they have their own entrance and they do accept some other scores but due to limited seats admissions are given only to the deserving ones. M.Tech is one course of which you will find students in scarcity and that somehow struck me to go for M.Tech. It wasn’t a planned choice but since I couldn’t find the right placement opportunities, I thought why not M.Tech then. NIET was not my first choice but after a great deal of research and obviously looking at the placements NIET looked the best because many pass outs from there are working in Bangalore, Pune, and Mumbai. One can’t be careless in terms of attendance. The college is quite strict and I am sorry but for M.Tech they are just too strict. No matter what one needs their space but at NIET, it’s not possible. Participating in events is not compulsory but you can’t be a spectator all the time. Morning to evening, I have to be at the hostel and then 1 hour traveling back home was just too tiring.

B.Tech and M.Tech are 2 different things. M.Tech is not just the advanced version but a different court altogether. I thought the field is the same and I will outplay. All these thoughts were put to corner as we had a new syllabus and new subjects and of course new friends at new college. It was start from the scratch but luckily the program-oriented studies have always had my back and at NIET it was just the same. I never thought I will spend 8-10 hours daily in college but as they say, nothing can’t be planned and NIET has definitely planned a better future for me, and for that, the academics were the most important thing.

I always had this knack of making friends with my teachers but NIET’s faculty were too serious to be friends with. I don’t judge them on that but being too rude and means is also not something which as a student I will ever appreciate. They were skilled and always lent a helping hand in our projects but always gave us a sign of caution. Such nature of most of them made me avoid them as much as I could.

The placement cell was quite happy with the M.Tech students and therefore from the 2nd semester onwards we were asked to get engaged in industrial visits and they helped us get projects from them. Many students got the placement directly from there while some still had to struggle. However, the struggle ended soon as a small interview and we all were hired. Some exceptions were there but a job in Capgemini India at their M4 office was what I was offered. Mumbai was my dream city and luckily only a few vacancies were there and I applied there. Then there was no stopping and luckily I am living in my city of dreams today but in lockdown, unfortunately.

I haven’t explored hostel life so seriously I don’t know how it feels like staying in a hostel. NIET has more of a residential set-up for its students and in my knowing it was full and some students had to arrange their boarding and lodging near the college campus which anyways there are many. In short for outsiders the college has hostels and one can have an absolute crack at the hostel because hostels of NIET are worth it.

NIET has a huge campus and a college campus that needs close observation. Built with a lot of planning but I hope the classes were more equipped as carrying a 9 cell battery laptop to the classes was too heavy. The main block had the admin department and the library building. On top of it NIET's, full-size lighting hoarding will blink at night and can be seen from far-off places. The computer labs and thought lab which was an innovative idea in my guess were the labs of our department. Health is given a lot of importance and therefore a fully loaded gym that has yoga and aerobics room is in place for the ones who want to practice any of those to stay fit. I am in fitness and therefore used to come early in the morning to do a workout before the classes. On can shower in the gym as there were many there. The canteen was good but was quite expensive. In Noida, though you are never away from a good restaurant and one can choose a different restaurant all year round as there were that many options in the radius of 5 km from the college. The infrastructure and the whole set-up was well planned and applause to the ones who designed this because I am sure a lot of thought has gone behind it.

Life was hectic as I used to leave home at 7 in the morning and reached back by 7 to 8 pm. It was tiring and still couldn’t bunk because attendance was more than compulsory. The atmosphere at the college was lovely and the vibes that came there were equally amazing. Made few friends while mostly the students are reserved at NIET. The seniors hardly had time to interact. Life was hectic but fun and this college is for the ones who are into fests things and all.
