Sahrdaya College of Engineering and Technology B.Tech Review By Krishnakumar

I will rate my college 7.5/10. Our college focuses mainly on academics. They don't give much importance to students’ soft skills like arts, sports, etc. Our college is one of the top engineering colleges in Kerala. There are 6 departments here; computer science and engineering, electronics and communication, electrical and electronics engineering, civil engineering, biotechnology, and biomedical engineering. Among these CSE, ECE, BME, and BT are NBA accredited departments. There are more than 150+ faculties and non teaching staff in our institution. The infrastructure of the college is pretty good. It’s a nature friendly college with a lot of greenery. In my opinion, the college management is not that good. In most cases they don’t even consider students’ needs even if it's genuine. They only want us to study. The faculties are friendly. Events are less, compared to other engineering colleges. If you are ready to study and enjoy a little bit and get a lot of stress then you can study here.

So, as I mentioned earlier, there are 6 departments here. CSE, ECE, BME, EEE, CE, and BT. There are different entry requirements for each department. For enrolling into CSE department, you should have a minimum of 80% in your higher secondary board exam with physics chemistry and mathematics. Also, you should pass KEAM or JEE. There are also NRI seats available but you have to pay extra 3 lakhs for those. These criteria don’t fall under NRI seats. There are different criteria for enrolling into different departments. There are 150+ seats for CSE.

About the faculties, most of them are really good and I like them. But there are some faculties who are not that good. Internal marks will be properly given. Most of the faculty members are very friendly and we can share anything with them as if we are friends. All the faculties are Ph.D graduates or are pursuing Ph.D. About the teaching skills; I will give overall of 8/10. We can freely ask any doubts to them.

We have a Placement Cell in our institute. A lot of companies used to hire many students from our college. Companies like Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Soti, etc. used to come. But currently, there are fewer placements because of the coming recession. Otherwise, there would have been a better placement rate.

There are 1 boy’s hostel and 2 girls’ hostels inside the campus. Campus facilities are satisfactory. The food is average. Hostel rules are very strict for girls and they don't allow them to wear certain dresses.

The infrastructure of the college is really good. One of the main attractions of our college is its infrastructure. We have mainly 3 blocks. Main block in which academic office, executive director’s office, principal’s office, etc. are present. There is a Bio block in which ECE, BM, and BT departments are present. There is a Decennial block in which CSE, EEE, and CE departments are present. There is one more block known as ‘knowledge centre’ in which library and M.Tech classes are present. There is also a multipurpose auditorium.

Compared to other engineering colleges, events are less here. Onam and Christmas celebrations are the main events in our college. Arts day is also good; it is a 2 day program. Sports day is also conducted but the participation is very less as compared to arts day. Our college doesn’t give much importance to extracurricular activities. But the students are very friendly. It’s only because of them that I am studying in this college or else no enjoyment would have been there.
