GPCET is one of the top engineering college in Kurnool
by Anu S
Hi there!! I am an alumna of this college known as GPCET. I have passed out in 2015. So I am here to review our college. So our college was still affiliated to JNTUA when I was studying but presently its only second autonomous college in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh state. So I think just this is enough to know the standard of our college. Apart from this we do have many placements, a huge campus with good environment and very experienced lecturers as well many cultural activities conducted every year with college fest added on. Admission process is quite easy done through counseling process.
I have joined in Electrical and Electronics engineering through web counseling as I was quite fascinated in this respect. I was expecting to have many labs as we gain knowledge through practical way and this college was just right for my requirements. I got to know many new things through this and was actually useful for my later jobs specially in this department. We do have quick assessments and frequent debates on various topics to improve our knowledge on several topics which I think was one of the most important things which helped me to gain knowledge in my later stages specially in my higher studies.
We do have many experienced faculty in not just our department but our college itself with all of them having minimum of post graduation and many have Phd's to their curriculum vitae and many even have publications under them. So this itself is enough to understand how strong faculty lineup along with many junior lecturers as well. So you will always have a faculty to clear you issues within subjects. Each department has minimum of 25-30 faculty members and many junior lecturers and lab technician as well.
I think placement is one of the most important criteria of colleges and yes we do have a Training and placement cell in our college where we have specialized lecturers grooming us in various niches right from written tests to our interview. Not to mention we have many guest lectures as well many mock interviews. So many top companies like Tech-Mahindra, Bosch etc. do visit our college to recruit students right from 4-1 semester and even I myself got placed in tech-Mahindra during my 4-1 semester. Nearly 60% of our batch students got placed with an average package of 6L/annum before graduation and highest package received was 12L per annum.
Yes I was one of those students who lived in hostels as my place was far away from college. Our college has hostel for only girls. Most important thing about our hostel is its distance and yes hostel was actually located in college campus and hostel facilities are top notch with good educational environment and nutritious food with good security and only we are allowed to leave campus only on parents affirmation which I feel is good and secured in a way. We do have separate rooms with 3-4 pupils sharing each and what's more we do have people to wash our clothes which is also included in hostel fee. As for the hostel fee it does change every year so it's best to have direct interaction with the concerned department for clarification.
We do have huge campus with several blocks designated for different departments. The main advantage is we have very huge laboratories in our respective departments which I feel is really important to an engineering student and we are allowed to experiment our own projects at our convenience. We do have junior lecturers to accompany us. Apart from this we do have dedicated libraries w.r.t each department as well a common one and large auditorium and we do have an emergency restroom with a paramedic available at campus all day. We do have huge ground for physical activities as well.
Though I have studied four years of my engineering it was just like a blink. Our education was completed in a knowledgeable way and fun attached to it. Our college runs fest every year and we do celebrate women's day and many other as such. Apart from this we have many training sessions on personality development and motivational classes which helps in grooming one's own perception, growth and motivation. We as well have many internal debates, jam sessions and quiz competitions among different departments and mini projects along with paper and poster presentations all year around. Overall it's just superb to enter our college and in no time you will fly high with colorful wings.
