Being one of the oldest colleges in Mangalore, SDM Law College has been continuously evolving itself by providing qualitative education to its students, today it’s one of the most reputed educational institutions in the entire country. I passed out from SDM Law college a year before the pandemic hit us. Grateful to the college for having given me a wonderful college life. Being an Indian bollywood gives these unrealistic expectations about colleges, SDM Law will fulfill these expectations at least by 60%. The college provides a perfect balance of academic and non-academic activities and encourages students to give their best in both fields. What I really loved about SDM was the amount of importance it gives to personality development. There are several clubs or as we call it cells that one can join to enhance their knowledge and improve their talents in the particular fields. You’ll never get bored as there are several fests and activities that take place throughout the academic year. In short it's the perfect college for someone who wants to enjoy a balance of academics and co-curricular activities.

Even though the college atmosphere is always festive, there is absolutely no compromise in academics. Staffed with one of the most brilliant teachers, each of them is qualified and very friendly. They are always available to clear your doubts. Apart from theoretical knowledge the college also gives grave importance to the use of such knowledge practically. For instance, there are several case studies that students have to present every year. There are mock trials held by the moot court society thereby giving you practical knowledge about the subject. Apart from the curriculum the college also offers certificate courses in CS, IT laws, etc. During my time in the college, we didn't have any internals as such which would increase our stress during sems, although now the curriculum has been updated and internals have been made compulsory to help the students grasp the knowledge better. The college provides both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Along with on-campus teaching, the college also takes the students for prison and court visits which are extremely informative. As such there are no entrance exams to join the college, just a simple interview with the principal.

When it comes to lecturers, SDM Law College undoubtedly has the best faculty. Remarkable teachers like Mr. Udayprakash sir who works even after his retirement is truly an inspiration to the students. The college also invites several guest lecturers from time to time who have helped us gain a lot of knowledge about real-world advocacy. Most of the lecturers in the college are either lawyers themselves or hold a law degree. The faculty is very supportive and helps the students to grow into brilliant individuals.

SDM Law college has an exclusive Placement society that organizes several workshops to help the students conduct themselves better in interviews. The students are encouraged to get internships from the first year. The college itself hooks the students up with lawyers for internships if they aren't able to get one on their own. Usually, students tend to get jobs under the same lawyers or companies they interned with. While speaking about placements after completing the course most students usually opt to appear for the bar exam and the rest can find jobs with their previous employer whom they worked with in the past.

The college recently opened a girls hostel in kottarachowki which is quite close to the college. The hostel rooms are spacious and clean. I would suggest you to find a hostel or pg near the campus as the college hostels are quite distant from the campus. There are several such hostels and pgs around the campus so it wouldn't be too hard to find a suitable one.

The infrastructure of the college is decent. If I have to be completely honest the infrastructure is poor while compared to the reputation of the campus. The college doesn't have an on-campus playground and has to thereby make use of the public grounds near it. Having said that, the college does provide several sports opportunities and wins several championships every year. It has an auditorium and all other basic facilities. The library provides a vast range of books and has now gone online so that the students can benefit from its range of articles and case reports sitting at home.

I truly had the time of my life in SDM Law college. It enhanced both my professional and personal life. The campus life is extravagant, the seniors are extremely friendly and there are several events organized throughout the year which allow you to mingle with people and even showcase your talents.
