ABES Engineering College M.Tech Review By Rishabh Khandelwal

ABES Engineering College is a top college for engineering in UP. Coming from Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology, I had huge expectations from this one. There’s no worry as the college was way better than what I thought. M.Tech (CSE) from ABES EC is relatively cheaper than other private colleges, and if we compare that with the ROI, it’s not even peanuts. The course had loopholes as the study was tough, and one has to be on song to pass the semester exams in one go. The passing percentage is not that great, and understandably so because as I said, the studies are tough. The campus is great and always with a stick on as proper uniform and I-card has to be there with the students while entering the campus. Even for the hostellers, there’s no excuse if they don’t tie-up, I-cards on their neck. All illegal activities on the campus are prohibited, and all the expectations that students or the parents have while sending their kids to the college are fulfilled at ABES EC.

Attendance damn strict, and for no reason, the college will let go of that. The classes are air-conditioned, and many times because of the early schedule, students were caught napping. It doesn’t go well with the authorities as there are security cameras even in the classrooms, and they are monitored. No freebies either on marks as the content of the answers and the timing and the presentation of the practicals are of utmost importance here. The faculty play their roles wisely, and students are always kept at bay to better themselves. One can learn and also have fun because the final year was eventful, and students were given little leeway in terms of attendance if they were to participate in the events.

I believe the faculty job is the toughest in the world. Gone are the days when they had sticks, but these days sticks are behind them. If the students don’t do well, they are questioned. Even if they do, they are not given their due credit. ABES EC faculty was tough and made us tough with their strictness and no freebies on offer. Mostly it was left for self-studies but college professors also urged us to come up with the doubts or any problem they have with any topics. Thus, they did their part rightly, and no one can point fingers on them.

Ghaziabad has now become a new IT hub with many new small IT companies coming to its shore. The big names were also there, and because I didn’t want a vanilla job, I opted for M. Tech. My decision and hard work paid when I was offered a nice package from an X company and that too the role of an assistant project manager. The placement percentage was better, and the quality was even better. One has to clear the mandatory tests organized by college authorities and marks of which are sent to the companies that accept them. It made our job easier as interviews were then a mere formality.

There are five boys hostel in all inside the campus, two of which are reserved for PG students. The seats are less for PG courses, and even though most of the hostels have an equal number of rooms, the strength of the PG hostel was less because there were either allotted on a single or double basis. The junior hostels or the hostels for B.Tech students had the options of triple and four students sharing it together. The curfew time was strictly followed as forging the rules was not an option here. 8.30 means 8.30 at the hostel and for girls it was even worse as they had to enter the hostel premises by 6.30pm. Like classes, attendance was strictly done at the hostel as well. A prior notice has to be given beforehand for late coming or remaining absent. The food at the hostel was reasonable because it lacked variety.

A lush green beautiful campus in the middle of the city. Commuting was easily done from the college location, and one can find all their necessary items at 5 minutes walking distance from the college. The labs were superb and the IT resource center or the computer lab was simply amazing. There were four café’s along with Sir John Bakery to fulfill our cravings for sweets. The bakery also made cakes and everyday there were a lot of orders as campus would see a lot of birthday celebrations on a daily basis. Sports grounds were superb, with the lightning quick outfield. The facilities were brilliant, and one can’t ask for more than what they have done to keep the campus clean and green.

More studies and more studies were done because the first year went by without me being a part of any event. The second year was a bit different as our juniors gave us a grand farewell, and it was one of those moments that made all of us numb. A new chapter that has begun after college wouldn’t have been as beautiful if we were not taught how to be disciplined at the college campus.
