The college is not among the popular ones because it comes in very sub niches of college's degree programmes. Our college provides two courses that are B.F.Sc and M.F.Sc which bachelors in fisheries science and masters. It is a degree program, where you will be taught everything about fish processing and food processing. The university also claims that they provide 800 rupees monthly scholarships to students who have done exceptionally well in the exams. The college management is very straightforward, and listens to students and solves their queries whenever required. The course structure is well designed; it is set accordingly so you can balance your studies between your higher level entrance exam and university level exams.

The reason I joined B.F.Sc is firstly, it does not require higher cut-off, second I had enough amount of interest in this sector that I was able to choose this program. The eligibility criteria for undergrad admission is your age must be 16+ and you have scored at least 60% in your class 12th examination. The syllabus is not a load here as professors smoothly covers everything in a very nice manner. Also the exam pattern is also pretty straightforward. Each semester you have to give three exams, which contains two hourly or pre-finals and one 3 hour long final exam. Pre-finals are 25 marks each and final exam is 50 marks each for both semesters. It is more likely that each subject will be lectured by a different professor.

In this college, there are not more than 10-15 colleges for the entire degree program which sometimes would feel like the lack of teachers/professors. However, students are also proportioned to that amount, you will not see many students studying in this course, which is a good thing, because students with genuine interest in fish processing are mostly seen here. In the B.F.Sc program there are only 20-25 seats per year which amounts to 65-70 students at a time in college. Competition for entrance gets pretty moderated by the amount of students interested in college of fisheries. Yet all the professors have done their PHD in fisheries and related fields.

You cannot except good placements or job opportunities in this field from campus placements source. Because this is more likely a research- based field, therefore, students either go for research purposes or for masters. Either way the jobs are also research based, you would be getting in this industry.

Since our college does not have many students therefore for the entire college one hostel of boys and one hostel for girls are allotted in which all the seniors and juniors stays. There is a mess in our hostel which is responsible for daily 4 times of food. Generally the food quality is normal and not very nice; sometimes the food is good, especially during the weekends. For some reason it happens I don’t know why. There is no cleanliness problem in our hostels, everything is very well managed. In hostels you will have great even as your freshman or the senior. Per semester you will be charged around 45 thousand as the fees in which hostels are included.

Our college lies at one end of the university near to the gate no.2 which is Nagla gate, nearby to Kicha and Haldwani. Outside of our college there are many small ponds which numerous verities of fishes kept in them. These ponds are the major source of our learning and also a good source of attraction to nearby visitors. The environment all around our college and university is very nice and lively. It feels like hills station sometimes during winters. Also during summers the weather is not quite hot and feels good. There is Wi-Fi in our hostel, which comes very handy all the time 24x7. Our college is far away in the other end of the university, which means in comparison to other colleges, markets, restaurants which are inside the campus are very far. However other markets outside the gate are nearby.

Our university has more than 7 colleges that mean each college has its fest each year. Fest of our college is not very nice and renowned; it feels like get-to-gather with fair. However other college fests like collouseum which is a fest by college of technology, is very lively and amazing. It is among the most popular fests of our university. Fests are a great place to be and have fun. Besides that we guys had an amazing time on researches nearby the pond, which we usually gets less chances in initial semesters. Overall campus life of this college is worthwhile and super fun. You will always remember these years which you had spend here.
