Overall our college is good. It is value for money as 4 year tuition fees of our college is: CSE-48k, IT-96k and LT-24k. Our college doesn’t have much attendance pressure. Overall good campus life, good hostel life, good academics, good faculties, good infrastructure but no on campus placement are provided nowadays but off campus placements are offered. A lot of students of the college crack CAT, GATE, GRE, TOEFL, Government Exams like CGL, CHSL, and many more as we get enough time for self study.

Our college has 3 departments CSE, IT & LT (Leather Technology). Students can take admission through WBJEE in first year and through JELET exam in 2nd year (lateral entry). Here CSE seats are 65, IT seats are 45, and LT seats are 30. The cutoff of CSE is very high, IT is less than CSE, and LT has very low cutoff. One can see cutoffs of different round for different category students on WBJEE official website. The teachers are moderate and infrastructure is average. College will not give you many opportunities but they will give you enough time for preparation of different kind of exams like CAT, GATE, GRE, SSC CGL, and more.

There exist different kind of faculties in Government College of Engineering and Leather Technology. Most of the teachers are very friendly. Few teachers teach excellent, they are very hard working, they teach maximum things, cover maximum topics, help students a lot, take lab works, give proper assignment, and solve students doubts. Overall teachers are good. Overall rating 7.5 / 10.

GCELET Salt Lake doesn't have any placement cell. Before lockdown many company like TCS, Cognizant, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, and many startups regularly visited our college and they recruited a number of good students. But after lockdown they stopped visiting. So nowadays there is no on campus placement but students of the institute works harder, gain knowledge and appears in off campus placements.

GCELET Salt Lake has a very big hostel. Almost 20 to 25 students can reside in our hostel. Students are allotted very big room, in every room only 2 students reside. They are given bed, chair, table and other facilities. The room rent is Rs.200 per month which is very less. No electricity bill is required. A mess is also present in the hostel. Rs.35 is charged per meal. Whether it is veg or non veg only Rs.35 is charged. The hostel is located in college campus. In front of the hostel a big playground is present. There we have facilities of playing different games like cricket, football, tennis, volleyball, carom, etc. 24 hr electricity is present in the hostel. Hostel life of our college is very good.

The college is in existence for more than 100 years so college is funded by web government. There is one single academic building and one office building. There is no auditorium in college. The college had spacious library and well equipped laboratories. There are physics lab, mechanical workshops, chemistry lab, labs for computer based subjects, biology lab, leather technology and other subject related labs. There is no AC in the classrooms. Teachers take class on blackboard but have projector to display anything like pdf or ppt. The classrooms are medium. There is no canteen in the college.

One can get a moderate campus life in our college. Our college is situated in salt lake sector 3. Our college has a very big playground where we can play games. Annual cultural fest (Resurrection) occurs in March every year and it is organized very well. Freshers, tech fest, sports fest, cultural fest, senior farewell, independence day, Teachers day, Netaji jayanti, Rabindra Jayanti, debate competition, student’s week celebration, Blood donation, and many other events are organised in the college. There are tech club, coding club, robotics club, students welfare association (students Union, non political) etc. Our college has no engagement of political parties. The college is less crowded. College was established on 1919, so it is more than 100 years old. So overall campus life is very good.
