Not very intentionally but mostly by chance I entered. Jogamaya Devi College is known as Ashutosh College morning. It is a girls’ oriented college under The University of Calcutta. Infrastructure in Jogamaya Devi college is average. As this is a government college, Fees are really affordable. I have finished my graduation from this college in 2018. The admission procedure is based on the 12th result. You need to check on their website to fill the form and according to your marks; you will be listed on their merit list.

The subject that I have taken was Mathematics. The reason to take that subject is pure love. It is not because my parents want it; It is because I wanted it. To learn more about mathematics, make new friends I entered this college. With mathematics, I have two more additional subjects physics and chemistry. I got to learn so many things from the services the college provides. I must say choosing chemistry as my subject in the college is one of the best decisions because the lab facility and the types of equipment are very helpful to clarify your doubts and will engage you more into the subject.

There were only 54 students in mathematics department and 4 faculties were there to help us including the Head of the department. All of my faculty are hugely qualified. One of them was so much helpful and cooperative. I frequently came to her; she always tried to solve all the problems. The rest of all, are experienced but not so supportive. But with only the help of college, I couldn’t clear my exams.

In spite of the fact that there is no job or placement opportunity. I have not been hired by any company. Even no companies come to hire you not even a single one. We didn’t even know what is an internship was. But some students did it on their own self outside.

There is no hostel facility available. Students from outside of the city rent PG or flats so as I did. Sometimes it takes a huge amount from students. But in a city like Kolkata, you will get as many as you want at affordable prices as well.

The college has one big common room, a strong wi-fi system also a big auditorium. All the fests and functions are held there. My first program was conducted there.

There is no dress code, no strict rules. Even there are no attendance issues. But in the physics department, the most annoying thing is attendance. We all had to present in practical classes.
