Geology Department

Overall Rating
It is One of the three colleges under Calcutta University that provides a B.SC Hons. degree for geology subject. It is a women's morning college. The college has all required facilities that an undergraduate student might need. I have completed 3 years into this college and still didn’t get any chance of complaining.
 

Academics Rating
Earlier when there was CBSC system, the geology B.Sc hons. course was of 3years but now under the new system it is of 4years with minor subjects. The minor subjects are Math, Chemistry, Constitution, etc. Students also get a chance of doing both academic and industrial internships while completing their course. For enrolling into the course a student must be a science student.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty of geology department of Jogamaya Devi College consists of 8 professors. They are all highly knowledgeable person and makes learning easy. They make the department feel like home with every teacher easily reachable whenever needed. The teachers are always available and are ready to help.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The college has just one building which is known as the Ashutosh Building. Jogamaya Devi College also has its own building on the back side of the main ashutosh building where the administrative office is situated. The principal room is also based in the new building.
 

Campus Rating
To be very honest, jogamaya devi college has very few college fests and cultural activities but yes, it does have a lot of academic activities both intra college and inter College. The academic activities comprises of quiz competitions, writing competitions. Sometimes it also holds painting competitions. The departmental activities are always ongoing like departmental fresher’s, felicitation ceremony, etc.

    College has commenced and class timings are from 6:15 AM. Timing is according to the subject of the course. Different activities on science day as well as other occasions are arranged.     Not very intentionally but mostly by chance I entered. Jogamaya Devi College is known as Ashutosh College morning. It is a girls’ oriented college under The University of Calcutta. Infrastructure in Jogamaya Devi college is average. As this is a government college, Fees are really affordable. I have finished my graduation from this college in 2018.
