SNGS College Pattambi is a Government College in Palakkad district. It is one of the seven special grade colleges of Kerala. SNGSC is situated in Pattambi town of Palakkad district next to the Pattambi - Cherpulassery route. I joined this college in the year 2020 during the pandemic period. I had a great time there with lots of academic and extracurricular activities. Both NSS and NCC are offered there. There are many clubs which students can be part of. Each year Poetry Carnival is organized in the college which extends up to 4-5 days. Definitely a college that could provide students with many good memories. I chose this institute because I heard about this college from my school teacher. She studied there and had a great time. This motivated me. If you are looking for a government college in Palakkad that excels in both academics and extracurricular activities this one is for you.

My course was BA English and History Double main. SNGSC is the only college under University of Calicut which offers this course. Admission to this college for UG is based on your Higher Secondary marks. Students of any stream can apply. But students with humanities background will be given preference. You can apply through the official website of Calicut University. No entrance exam is required. I enrolled for this course because it is a tailor made course for Civil Service Examination. Both English and History are the core courses. No complementary papers are there. Along with the core papers, there will be a second language paper and general English papers for the first four semesters. It was a 3 year course, but now as per the NEP 2020 it has become a four year course.

English Department consists of 5 faculties and History Department consists of 2 teachers. All of them have Ph.D. Even before covid online learning was started in this college. Learning Management System is the platform. Students are instructed to use Moodle App where our attendance is marked. Also study materials are provided through this app. Assignments are submitted the same way. And sometimes exams are conducted through the same app. Students are asked to do presentations with PPT so that it can help us to improve our public speaking skills. It is very helpful for students who want to pursue teaching career. No academic pressures and overload works. Faculties are friendly and supportive. Many students of this college have bagged ranks and medals from University of Calicut for academics.

Placements are not provided in our college. But occasionally job fairs are organized in our college. During my time there, each year there was a job fair. Students of our college are given preference. Also students are asked to enroll to Knowledge Mission Academy Kerala which offers many job opportunities to students.

Hostel facility is available for girls. It is inside the college. Warden of the hostel is one of our female faculties. Hostel fee is affordable. Less than 2000 per month. Each year hostel is provided for a maximum of 110 students. Their house should be minimum 40 km away from the college in order to get hostel admission. All festivals are celebrated in the college hostel including Onam, Christmas, New Year, etc.

Campus has Administration block, Main block, PG block, Science block, Old block, Seminar hall, Auditorium and ASAP block. Library and Office are in the Administration Block. Commerce classes are in the ASAP block. A seminar hall is there in the same block. All science class both UG and PG are in the science block. A seminar hall is there. Excellent lab facilities are there. Main block consists of arts classes, NCC and NSS offices, College union office, etc. PG block consists of arts and commerce PG classes. Auditorium has a capacity to accommodate 500 people at a time. There is a ground inside the campus. In the year 2023 the A Zone arts fest was conducted here.

Very good campus life. Students can be part of NSS, NCC etc. Many clubs are there like theatre club, sports club etc. There will be many programs that are organized by departments or by the college union. Food fest, Music fest, Union day, Arts day, Commerce day, Science day, College day, etc. are some. Poetry Carnival is the main attraction. It is a 4-5 days program organized each year. So far 7 editions of Poetry Carnival have done. Poets and artists from all over India come and perform during the Poetry Carnival. Food and accommodation are provided during Poetry Carnival. Other than these there will be seminars organized by departments. Competitions like quiz, essay writing are organized based on the occasion.
