Centurion University BBA Review By Abhishek Saha

CUTM is one of the biggest private universities of Orissa but has very little to offer. Placements were poor and hardly any exposure given as we were hardly taken out of the campus for activities or industrial tours. All was promised but just for the sake of it because, Orissa is a backward state and if education system remains the same, it will never get better. It’s safe for me to say now that CUTM was a nightmare more than I imagined. You will just waste money here because here exist an Ocean of meaningless rules. Just like any school or junior college, the university has a uniform for its students. You can ask any hosteller and they will one thing to say that the food provided was shit. Unfortunately, if you fail in any exam, you will have to pay an additional fee of ₹2500 for each paper other than the yearly fees that you pay. You will do assignments which were useless but because all that add up in final score, you have no choice but to get them done. Once your degree is earned you will have nothing to be cheerful about but only to regret on why I joined this university?

Strict rules mean strict attendance and same old school styled study. We will have daily 6 lectures and there’s a lunch break between the first four lectures. You are only allowed to go out during the breaks as in-between you can’t even go to bathroom without permissions. The professors here will only make you concentrate on the course and don’t ask beyond as you will get job and a degree if you do that. Some parts of the academics were so rubbish that I even thought of quitting after the first year.

It’s hard to tell sometimes on how selfish few people can be. During the faculty, students meet which was a formality after every semester, the faculty will boast who lick to their tunes and will bombard the ones who go against them. You have no right to go against the faculty or do something on your own. If you by chance do any improvisation in the projects means it’s rejected and you will have to do it all over again. Professors thought that they are best but I hope someone, someday show them the mirror.

As per the marks, students were divided into A, B, and C category. I was in B so I thought I will be placed but forget about the B category, even the A category students were hardly placed. University would have never taken the blame on them and told the students that you were not skilled enough to get placed. Who develop the skills in students? University or student themselves. If we were capable enough, why wouldn’t we have done BBA from an Open School as we wouldn’t have wasted our parents hard earned money. Making noise wouldn’t have helped because the university is anyway getting the required number of students every year and they are more than happy with that.

There are 9 boys’ hostel buildings and I changed three hostels during the three years of time at the university and all of them were shit. Common washrooms and all so filthy that one has to think twice before using them. Only good thing about the hostel was that cameras were working and chances of any mishap was less. Food was pathetic and so were the rooms. It was hard to stay at the hostel but because staying in a PG was not recommended by elders at our home, I had to stay at the hostel and sleep empty stomach most of the times.

A 40-acre campus with beautiful images so that people never get to know about the reality of the University. The library was huge but one can hardly find research material as the books were not labeled properly. Some management books were mixed with engineering books as students never kept the books from the shelves they took. Sporting facilities were the best as college used to end quite soon and evening were spent playing games. The university’s cafeteria was good and also the canteen was decent enough. We were not allowed to cross the gate after 8 pm and girls after 7 pm.

Staying among fools will be a nice joke and I took at as the bright side of it. Students would blow their own trumpets and every day we will target few students to make fun of. Studies were only done a fortnight before the exams, so we had ample time to have as much fun we wanted at the campus.
