Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies is situated in Northwest Delhi in Rohini. It is an excellent college because of the quality support provided by the teachers of the institution. VIPS has a really good crowd of students, mostly coming from well-to-do families as the fee is a little higher as compared to other colleges of Delhi University. To get into VIPS, one needs to give the entrance exam conducted by IP university for various courses. However, for many professional courses such as Law and Engineering, there is no separate entrance exam conducted by the IP Univeristy. Scores of CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) and JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) are considered for admission in the colleges of IP University. There is also a provision of management quota in the colleges of IP university; though, only some colleges have these provisions and the cost to be paid ranges anywhere from 4 to 10 lakhs, depending upon the course and the college. VIPS too has a management quota, and many students even take admission through it because of the immense opportunities it provides. The fact that VIPS acts as a booster for our job hunting after college and our lives, makes it worth it to take admission in VIPS. There are two metro stations nearby college: Pitampura and Haiderpur, which are easily accessible for the students to come to the college. There are also many rickshaws available. So reaching the college is not an issue.

Starting off with how to get into VIPS for pursuing Law, there are two courses offered by VIPS, Bachelors of Business Administration + LLB and Bachelors of Arts + LLB. Both the courses have different subjects however; the Law subjects will remain the same throughout the five years of this course. If one wants to pursue Law after school, they will firstly have to give CLAT which is conducted in December however; the dates and pattern of the examinations keeps changing. The competition is tough and the seats are less thus, not everybody can secure a seat in National Law Universities, so they have to go for other good colleges. Private colleges are expensive and no good private college for Law is situated in Delhi except VIPS and other IP colleges. VIPS acquires top ranking of good Law institutes in Delhi. After giving CLAT, the same score and rank will be considered for admission in IP university. Lists are released in which one can check where they can get admission based on past year cutoffs. To secure seat in VIPS, one must get a rank of 18,000 in CLAT. If you are unable to make it through the cutoff, management quota can be opted for; some 10 lakh will be required to be paid and one can get admission in VIPS which is totally worth it. The academics at VIPS are really very good, teachers are excellent and they tell you everything from exams to the world outside of college. Teachers are very supportive and can be reached out any time for doubts. There are smart boards for presentation.

All teachers are extremely qualified and have graduated from reputed Law schools such as NLUs, Faculty Law Centre of DU, other reputed Law colleges, and many others have been assistant professors in NLUs. Teachers are extremely supportive and educated. Many of our teachers even hold a doctorate which helps them to teach us better and give us more knowledge. Each teacher have their own way of teaching, they mostly make us well versed with the topic, give us judgments to read and recite case Laws and give us other case Laws to read. Some teachers even send us PPTs to refer and we are even taught through presentations in smart classes. Overall, the faculty is really good that makes sure to resolve our doubts at every instance. They even tell us how to prepare for other exams. Highly qualified teachers and a very good study environment is what the Institute boasts about.

There is a career training and placement cell at our institute. It is functioning in a really good way and students do get placements opportunities from here. However, it still doesn’t work very well as many reputed Tier-1 firms does not visit our college. Placement opportunities from Tier-1 firms unlike in NLU’s are not possible in colleges like VIPS and other IPU colleges however, it gives us every opportunity to attend webinars, and participate in various competitions organized by VIPS and other committees. It also conducts mock interviews in which members from Law firms visit to take interviews of the students but there are not many opportunities of placement. Students have to work on their own to secure a PPO (Pre-Placement Offer) from the firms they interned at.

The college doesn’t have hostel facilities but students take PGs and flats near the college as there are many apartments in Rohini area which are affordable and comfortable. PGs and flats are a very good option as this helps in reducing transportation time and focus on studies more effectively. A lot of students who are not from Delhi prefer to live in PGs and flats with other classmates and batch mates.

VIPS is very famous for its infrastructure as it’s an air-conditioned college. The college has a very good aesthetic. The buildings are made up of glass which is an iconic feature of VIPS. There are 3 blocks for the departments; like BBA, B.Com and B.A courses in one block, one whole building for engineering department and one for Law and BJMC combined. There is facility of lifts available in all these buildings and they are always in working condition. The infra is to die for as its very student friendly and adheres to safety since CCTV is present in each and every corner of the college. Washrooms are very clean and well maintained. There are western style washrooms at every floor with pretty mirrors and soap facility. There are libraries present for all the courses and students can issue books using their ID cards. Libraries are air-conditioned and present in all the buildings with a wide number and variety of books and seating arrangement. There is also a badminton playing area, basketball ground and a ground where students play cricket. Facilities for counselling, meditation centre, and faculty research centre and many more are available. There is nothing that is not present in VIPS. There is also a common room for girls and boys separately where they can go and play. There are 5 different canteens of Amul, Nestle and Mother Dairy.

Campus life is literally the best in VIPS. There are so many fests organised here. Recently Parmish Verma came, now Arpit Bal is coming to our college. Last to last year Paradox was invited and many societies have their own fests. The fest season begins from November and there are at least 5 fests in organised in our college. There are also dedicated Bollywood day, ethnic day, and retro day to inculcate fun in the lives of students. There are so many societies and clubs where one can be a part of after clearing the interview and selection process. Campus life is good as teachers are very lenient with kids. Many sports competitions also conducted every now and then where students participate and win prizes. There are many clubs like MUN, Youth Parliament, Enactus, Initio, TED Society and Film Making, and Podcast Making. One should definitely take admission here for the beautiful college life.
