Khalsa College for Women B.Com Review By Khushi Suneja

I was on cloud nine when I got admitted in one of the best colleges of Ludhiana mainly for girls. KCW is an awesome place to study with overall rating of number 1 girl's college in Ludhiana. To be very clear, the admission process is not complex. There is prospectus available with which admission starts and it ends up with eligibility criteria of 80+ percent in high school and no requirement of entrance exam. The managerial aspects at college level are very satisfactory though sometimes there is mismanagement during peak times that is April when new admission takes place. As a whole, the management is very soft spoken and well disciplined with all the things on time. Honestly, one thing lacks i.e. overseas accreditation that needs to be updated to enhance its virtue.

Intentionally, I took admission in B.Com in 2016 due to allegiance towards that course. There was no entrance or qualifying test for getting admitted but yes there was eligibility and 80+ percent was requisite for getting admitted. I personally chose this subject to continue masters in a recognised university. The subjects were to a great extent up to my expectations but clearly some were not of my interest. Not to mention this course was actually beneficiary for my further academics. This course will help me fetch the knowledge to the maximum of my capacity and I will get an ideal position in Indian job market.

KCW in terms of faculty is unmatchable with any other college as the staff is highly qualified and experienced. The frequency of teachers for my course was 100+ with high tech qualification. The average experience of pedagogues is 7-10 years and there are senior teachers with an experience of more than 30 years. There academics is as well equipped as post graduates and PhD. I was fully contented with teaching patterns whereby practical and theoretical part carried equal weightage. My professors were very determined and they worked with perseverance to make us pass with flying colors.

Although the interns at KCW are not actively considered by placement cell but undoubtedly the placements are actually very satisfying. The top recruiters walk ins are from Amul, Wipro, HDFC, Axis bank and so on. The highest package was 7 lakhs per year during my batch although the average salary package is 2-3 lakhs per annum. The exact percentage I don't remember but yes it was more than 60 percent. Placement cell does not focus on preparing students for interviews; this is where the cell needs updation.

There were a lot of girls from outside city so the hostel facility was an obvious and compulsory. The hostels are not very excellent but yes it is good to live. There are a lot of rooms available which can be shared basis. Since it's a girl's college so no boys' hostel was there. There is a tight security in the hostels so no fear of theft and stealing. The expenses are very reasonable but the exact amount I forgot but it's nearly 30000 per annum. To be specific, the hostel is actually very comfortable as it gives a feeling of home.

Infra-structurally, my college was very catchy. It is a big campus with all types of labs, cells and auditoriums and separate classrooms for different departments. The college has big playground for making sports practice easy and success. The NCC and NSS practice can be easily practiced over here. In case of emergency the medical facility though available but it's not 100 percent satisfactory.

From an overall perspective the institution is very comfortable and I savored my college life by participating in number of activities. The welcoming celebration is of teej and youth festival in which KCW holds position every year. My life in Khalsa College was very loving and savoring though strictness of professors sometimes made us sad, nonetheless it is rememberable. Its nostalgic.
