SGT University M.Tech Review By Pinkesh Tyagi

After graduating from GD Goenka University, started looking for the college and universities that has the best placement ratio. Other than SGT, the other universities which were in my reckoning were NorthCap University, Sushant University, and Amity University Gurgaon. If I compare these four SGT is far ahead as they have problem of plenty where they run so many courses but still their technology school is one of the best. My cousins were in the NorthCap University and because they failed to have placements from the campus, I decided to join SGT as it has a nice track record in placements. SGT’s student strength is quite high as they have n number of courses. Also, all the departments are not on same page but the college’s law department and the engineering department are one of the best.

Technically SGT is sounder than any other university of our region. If one look at their classrooms and labs, they will be amazed. Along with a mind-blowing faculty the university has the core technology that is required for CSE. To make sure students have the best learning, the companies have tie-ups some of the best ed-tech solution providers like Oracle and SAP. Many certification programs are also running side by side as even M.Tech students do get ample time to enroll in certification programs and attend all the seminars that are organized at the college. To make sure students are at mental peace and don’t take much pressure from the studies, the recreational activities of the college were a real stress buster.

Faculty were more like an army as they needed discipline. If one is seen mocking other students, the students will be thrown out of the class. Mocking, poking or any such things were never allowed during the classes and during practical’s if someone misses, then they are left on their own as faculty put all the blame on them. Faculty were tough to deal with but they did it for the betterment of students so keeping malice against them won’t be correct. They never imposed theory on us as practical’s is what they believed in and also made us believe in it.

Summer vacations of the college were used for internship and the placements followed soon thereafter. If I start naming the companies, one may find it tough to digest because apart from the IT names, the company that came for IT solutions were big firms like Honda, Mahindra, Bajaj Auto, Sony, and LensKart among many others. The placement figures were better than almost all the universities of our region as average placements were no less than 5 Lakhs. So, placements of SGT were amazing and one can definitely bank of SGT for placements.

SGT hostel gives shelter to numerous students as over 2000 students of the university stays at the SGT hostels. The hostels were huge and students staying at the hostel had doubled their fun because the amazing facilities of the campus were available for them as long as they wanted. Students were allowed to take their friends at the mess using their coupons. I had few lunches there and if they would have sponsored me lunches daily, I swear I wouldn’t have brought Tiffin from home. The food was that great and because we were not allowed to enter the rooms, I don’t know how they looked like.

The university is huge as the campus was spread across 60 acres. The college gate to the area where buildings are located was amazing as there was garden on both sides of the roads. Physically from outside the university looked like a Silicon Valley as there were buildings as good as corporate offices, cafes and tables around. The library, labs, and all are there at any university but a large SGT hospital at the campus was amazing. University’s recreation rooms were world class. There was a news room, a studio and a radio station at the university. University had three seminar halls and two large open gathering halls. Sporting facilities of the university were world class. Tennis is my favorite sport but I never played it before I joined SGT. Four hard court tennis courts with best rackets and decent enough coach made sure that I used to spend at least an hour daily at the tennis courts.

The university had so many departments that in 12 months, SGT used to have nearly 20 fests. Students of any department can join the fun of all the fests of the campus. Both orientation and farewell programs ended with a jam session. Since, the education was good and most importantly the placements were great, all these additional things just made the life at SGT an unforgettable one. Thus, look at no other university, if you want to do law or engineering as there’s no better place than SGT in Gurugram.
