My experiences at Birla Vishvakarma Mahavidyalaya Engineering College

Overall Rating
As the college is 3 tier, I can say it was average. But it can be listed in top 5 government colleges in Gujarat. It had below average placements, above average academics and not so good extracurricular activities. But what I liked most about the college was its location. It's situated at the most iconic city of the Gujarat. Vallabh Vidyanagar is best to study. Apart from that the college has its independent curriculum and course structure.
 

Academics Rating
The college provides admission through ACPC. For IT and Computer branch you need top ranks, and it gradually decreases for other branches. Specifically for Electronics Engineering which is under grant in aid structure of the college, you should have a rank around 7000 in Gujarat. My motive to select electronics was because of its versatile demand, as I am passing out from EL I must say that EL people can do IT and non-IT jobs very efficiently. Thus if you are unable to get admission into IT fields, go for Electronics. You will not regret it.
 

Faculty Rating
Faculties were average. One-two in whole department could be qualified in masters from top colleges in India, rest have average backgrounds. Some are very hard working. But the college has enough study material, using which we can self study. And I must appreciate efforts of some faculties as they are very proactive and ready to help.
 

Placement Rating
Here comes the main part. The goal of these 4 years is nothing but a good placement. The college has a very active placement cell but they are unable to invite some good companies for the placements. Most of the students get placement with 4LPA which is very low as per the market standards.
 

Hostel Rating
They had residential boy’s hostel and girl’s hostel are out of the campus. The management and staff members of the hostel are not that helpful. Overall, the hostel facilities offered by the college are not up to the mark.
 

Infrastructure Rating
As the college was established in 1948, the campus is quite old, but I found it nice and clean. It is small and simple campus with all the required facilities. They keep renovating it within some period. I liked the campus as my main concern is placements and academics. If you have fond of big and stylish campus then this is not for you. It has independent building for specific branches, average classes and, average laboratories.
 

Campus Rating
Campus life was average only. We had about 2 fests in a year. The student’s technical clubs were active; you can take part in those if you like making contacts. Some activities are organised here for student engagement and you can be a part of that too if interested.

    The first major advantage of computer engineering in BVM is that it is GIA. Therefore, fee structure is very low compared to self financed colleges. Other benefit is that it is Gujarat's first engineering college, established in 1948, so the alumni network is very large.     Birla Vishvakarma Mahavidyalaya is one of the best engineering colleges in Gujarat. Also, it is the first engineering college in Gujarat. It is a reputed college and my overall experience is excellent; for learning purposes it is so great. Its library and sports facilities are very good.     Overall experience of my university was good enough. The Campus is not that large but it does disappoint us in terms of placements, teaching, and the overall environment. What made me choose this college was only my passion. From the beginning I had interest in construction and I am pursuing my career. Teachers are best here as they are highly experienced....     I chose this college because my merit rank was high. Admission process of this college is very easy for me because of ACPC rank is very good for this course. You should check the ACPC website for the application form and the fee structure. The admission process is very lengthy so it can possibly take 1-2 weeks to finish the application....   • BVM is among the maiden engineering colleges of India

    BVM turned autonomous the year I joined and a good GUJCET score will make your way through this college. The college is 70+ years old and therefore safe to say that the oldest engineering college of Gujarat in BVM. The IITs too started post BVM as it started the year we got our independence and the foundation stone was laid by none other than Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
