Institute of Management Study B.Sc Review By Somdeep Bhattacharjee

Since I was a child, I was so much fascinated with cartoons and always wanted to create those stuffs by myself. That’s why I chose the Animation course. Hence, after passing out the boarding mandatory study life, I went for this stream. I enrolled myself in IMS in Mukundapur as it is only Animation institute under Moople in Kolkata (as much I knew). When it the time comes to say about students' authentication verification or any other security issues, my institute stands first in the list.

As a novice, I literally thought Animation course would be more relaxing than the other regular courses with lesser studies and includes mostly practical based learning. But I was wrong. It is pretty challenging like the others. Yes, it's a little bit easier than other courses as here your background, where are you from. To choose this course, students steam does play big role. Meaning, one can choose this course despite being from Science or Arts stream. The only thing matters, is passion for animation. You have to handle MAKAUT's hectic study schedule, as you have to face 4 exams of CA papers + 4 to 6 main practical exams (depending on your semester syllabus) + 4 to 6 main theory exams (depending on your semester syllabus) + semester projects in each semester of the total 6 semesters of your 3 year BAFM (B.Sc In Animation and Film Making) course. You have to maintain 75% attendance in each semester. Although if you can take it cheerfully, it is absolutely an enjoyable course.

In my institute, all the faculties are pretty good, helpful and always focused to their duties. They all are supportive and good guiders. They sometimes go above and beyond the teacher-student relationships to help us. If you are in a trouble and you think they can solve it, just call them even after institute hours and if it's really sort able, they'll definitely help you out. Only for this reason, i still love going to institute every day.

I've heard so many big companies like Red Chillies, SVF, Amazon, Flipkart, etc. have been recruiting our students at several big posts since few years. But being a student (3rd year, 5th semester), I don't know so much. So I shouldn't comment further.

I never have such experience. So I don't have any information related to this.

As far I know IMS was made so many years ago when Animation did not even existed as a subject to study, and institute authority couldn't even imagine that they would have to add such a technical field as a study stream in future. That's why our institute's infrastructure remains kind of an old fashioned. Computer systems are there but needs to be updated. Each and every department is separated and settled in different floors. Recently our Moople portion (of institute) has shifted nearby of our institute, so I’ve to go there for better computer system support. Nevertheless, I must say our old campus means IMS’ original building campus was much better. It might not be huge in size but co-existence of several departments together is commendable.

The old campus of IMS is known to be buzzing with sound of crowd. We also have good relations with the seniors. We used to have long discussions with them before events like fresher's party. I like the vibe of old institute too. Ragging is strictly prohibited, which is my favorite part of this institute.
