St Xavier College Thumba B.Com Review By Aardra Subhash

I chose this college based on the experience of my school principle and I do not regret it. Overall, I had good time and made many friends.

I chose B.Com course in St. Xavier College Thumba. The eligibility is to have 80% or more on your 12th board exam. You should apply through government allotment portal. The motive should be career building.

During my time, the principle was Fr. Dasappan, who supported us through everything. HOD of our department was Mattapan Sir, who was Accounting faculty. All the other faculty members were good. My favorite was Ansi Mam. She taught us very thoroughly, making sure that we understood everything. This was the reason wanted her to teach us tough subjects. She ever used to take extra classes if needed to complete the syllabus. Other teachers like Sherin Mam and sheena Mam were also good at teaching. They both always made sure to clear all our doubts. Shijumon sir used to focus more on macro topics then micro ones. Overall, I had very good experience.

St. Xavier College Thumba not only provides placements but they also conducts career guidance workshop for various professional courses like CA, CMA (IND), CMA (USA), CS, AIICA, Data Science, Medical Coding, etc. Top recruiters are Info Tech, HDFC, ICICI, Infosys, Techno Park, etc.

I was not a hostel resident. Nevertheless, the hostel for girls is in our college compound.

The college has a well-equipped common library and departmental libraries. The buildings are somewhat aesthetic. This is one of the reasons why our college is used for shooting many movies, etc. The cafeteria provides quality food at reasonable price. There is a cricket stadium, football court, basketball court, hockey ground, etc. There is also a new auditorium and old auditorium in the premises.

There are always celebrations, events, competitions or club activities are going on. At that time, we used to have reason to go college every day students at different club or facilities conduct activities, events, or competitions. ‘Trade Fest’ by facility of Commerce is good event, which lasts for one week. Students of Commerce department make it more fun by setting up multiple stalls and taking part in multiple activities. Other fests include ‘Agro Fest’ by Botany students and ‘Xavio fest’ by student of all the facilities.
