School of Open Learning, University of Delhi B.Com Review By Rashi Chaudhary

I chose School of Open Learning, University of Delhi for my graduation in B.Com and it was a decent decision. Everything was done online including admission forms or any other document work due to many DU students living in different cities. It is very convenient for them as they can get their work done online and only need to visit an institute to give their exams. For me personally, the experience was decent, and I never had any issue regarding admit card or exam attendance but there were definitely other students who had these issues, and they needed to visit the campus.

School of Open Learning provides all the resources and study material online as well as in hard copy which is included in admission fee and you don't have to pay anything extra. You can collect the study material from the institute itself or they can also mail you at your home in case you live outside of Delhi, aside from study material SOL also conducts classes for every semester on weekends which is Saturday and Sunday. Attendance is not compulsory, and you are assigned a particular college for each semester where you can go and take classes on weekends. The syllabus and exam pattern are the same as regular colleges which fall under Delhi University. So, on the academic front you study the exact same course as the regular student and also get weekend classes.

The faculty in School of Open Learning is very good and qualified because these are the same faculties of regular colleges and they are assigned for weekend classes for every subject. There are 2 to 3 professors who take classes and students can choose who they prefer. Although there are no assignments in my batch but according to NEP policy there are assignments for SOL students as well which they need to solve and submit online.

It does offer placement assistance but due to the very large number of students, there is a lot of competition and placements are less for Undergraduate Students but for Post Graduation Students, there are more placement opportunities.

The infrastructure is good but not very modern especially for the SOL campus, but you get different colleges for exams and classes. So, you get to experience many colleges of Delhi University including top North campus and South campus colleges which have a world class infrastructure because every college has a heritage factor to it.

The campus is not very active considering it is a distance institute but on weekend classes, you can enjoy your assigned college campus which totally depends on which college you have been assigned and campus location. North and South campuses have a good campus life but off campus are very often in isolated locations.
