Amity University BBA Review By Amit Kumar

Before joining here, I had a lot of myths about 'Amity' that is for the rich and all. There are some hidden truths, while there are some rumours. The truth is, you need to burn your pockets to get admissions here. The rumour is that they give admissions to anyone who is rich or can afford the College fees. Along with me, some of my friends who were filthy rich, came for the interview and were rejected. So, the truth is that they might not have an entrance, but an interview for BBA students. The second and the most important rumour is that they teach absolutely nothing. Well, the truth is that I studied nearly 10 subjects in each semester. All our classes went ahead as planned, so I have put the rumour to rest. Yes, but there is one rumour, which is indeed true and that is Amity has 100% placements. Placements were hardly any so apart from all this rumour everything is true.

Registration, paperwork, never ends here. There are around 10 subjects in each semester. We had to download research papers for all those and register on the portal again and again to submit. Amity is not known for tough papers and all. But because it has too many subjects, it becomes difficult the other way round. The basics of the management program were taught from the 1st semester. And by the end of the course, we had studied all the subjects that a management student’s studies at any top College.

Faculties here have been hired from various states of India. More than favouritism, it was the merit on which they all have been chosen. Bihar is not known for speaking English or having that kind of Culture. In our classes though, any questions that have to be asked, have to be in English. Perhaps that’s the reason we have gained confidence in living in big metros. Where people generally speak in English. The faculties instilled confidence in us, to stand and deliver. And for those reasons, I would congratulate them. I would condemn the teaching of some, though who may have been chosen on favouritism as it is Bihar finally.

We were taken to Delhi for an industrial tour. And not Amity Patna but Amity Noida, Amity Lucknow students were on the same industrial tour. The two-day tour was of great help, as book terminologies don’t work in the real world. Books can make you understand, but unless you have seen it from a naked eye, it’s hard to understand things. After all, this though, when placement time came. Only a few companies like Airtel, Asian Paints, and some Banks came. Still, around 30% of the students were placed, with an annual package of around 3-4 Lakhs. Firstly, placements in private Colleges are very slim. And so Amity deserves an appreciation, as they have brought this culture. Where students can put all their insecurities behind finding jobs post studies.

Amity's current campus or where we have studied don’t have a hostel. The campus is expanding, as the University has bought land behind the main College. Where construction began in 2016 and thus, far the construction work is on. I don’t know when it will be finished but once it’s done, there are hostels inside that campus. In my batch, students managed to find properties. Which is not so tough in a city like Patna, where every other student you see is a student. Even I stayed at a rented house close to the College, as the area close to the College has many such properties.

Amity University building is a landmark building of the city. As of now, the campus is that four-floor building that had two elevators. Our classes were held on the 3rd floor and the top floor had a library. Library of such magnitude was unimaginable for many students. Like us, who come from villages. The canteen was amazing, even though the campus is modern. The canteen served many traditional food items. There was a discussion room and a gaming room inside the building. The classrooms were fantastic. And every facility within the building barely needs any boasting. I can challenge if half of such facilities are available in any other College.

The Culture of events and fests was pretty new for students like us. One has to be brave to go and tell the people, running the programs. To say, please include our name in the roster. We all did as each student, got to perform in fests, at least once during their time in the University. It was hard to get going, but once we spent some time at the College. We became more comfortable than anything else. The campus life gave each student their comfort. The students had to come in uniforms and only on Saturday’s we could wear casuals.
