The Reason for Choosing Indira Gandhi National Open University for B.Com

Overall Rating
I chose Indira Gandhi National Open University as my university for pursuing Bachelor of Commerce. In this university the mode of program is open distance learning. The reason why I chose open distance learning is because I am also pursuing Chartered Accountancy as my main profession and wanted my majority of focus on that. But I also wanted a bachelor's degree in finance background. Therefore I chose this program. Anyone who is looking to pursue further education and preparing for any competitive exam should look into IGNOU's variety of courses from different fields.
 

Academics Rating
The course which I have chosen is B.Com and there is no entry criterion for this course or as much I believe is that there are no entry criteria for any course available on their website. The only motive I had before enrolling for this program was that I could focus completely on my Chartered Accountancy studies and not be bothered about studying for B.Com as well. And also ICAI has a MoUs with IGNOU for students pursuing B.Com and Chartered Accountancy which makes things easier.
 

Faculty Rating
No classes are conducted in IGNOU but the study material is provided by post and online recorded lectures are uploaded on their website, which is quite average and nothing too special to understand their curriculum.
 

Placement Rating
There is no placement cell or any campus placement facility for anyone which is definitely a drawback.
 

Hostel Rating
There are no hostels provided by Indira Gandhi National Open University. Also students don't need hostels for a distance learning course.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The infrastructure of the exam centers is average. IGNOU has a lot of branches in every city of India which helps the students to access their courses from any city and can easily commute to submit assignments or give exams. There aren't any other amenities provided by this university. Books are sent to the students by post.
 

Campus Rating
The campus life is practically nonexistent as there is no campus because of the distance learning and students cannot engage in any sports, extracurricular activity, fests, etc. But it is not a drawback as anyone who is enrolling in this program is doing for focusing on some other competitive exam and doesn't really need a campus life.
