If you ask anyone in UP about the best engineering colleges, most of them might say IES College of Technology. What one doesn’t know is that all that glitters is not gold. We have seen full page ads of IES and enticed by that, took admissions here. The college is just an exhibition of a nice crowd, nice infrastructure, but no placements. Not just from UP but students from MP, Bihar, and Rajasthan also come in numbers over here and the college has done this to them what they do to everyone else and that is to make a fool out of them. The college is without a money minting press and due to their money power, they have been able to sustain even without getting CSE students placed. Even the discipline that was mentioned or been told during the induction program was all fake as they make students barred from writing exams because there is a fine for it. You pay the fine and become eligible to write the exams, it's as simple as that.

When I saw the infrastructure from classroom to labs, I was like, wow, I will be studying here. Within a week I knew that there was no time for lectures as faculties used to come as per their wish and if there were fewer students in class they would come and walk away. I mean is it our fault that maximum students are not coming to the class. In fact, the first thing that happened in the class in the name of education was our uniform, shoes, and belts were checked to see whether they were in accordance or not because those who didn't do it properly were sent out of the class. So, in a lecture of 50 minutes, half the time was wasted like that.

I seriously doubt whether the degrees that have been written after their names are true or not. In the name of discipline, they have ruined students' lives and talking in Hindi is considered cool by them. I went back in flashback as during the induction program we were told that as an engineer, you have to represent your country globally and therefore only English as a medium will be used for communication at the campus. The first day faculty came in class and started off in Hindi. I was like she would gain her form and start in English but the form never came as Hindi is the preferred language not just by the students but by the faculties as well.

The college says 100% placement record, but trust me it wasn’t even 10%. The other reason for poor placements is that we had minimal exposure on practicals and also we were not trained to perform in interviews. I had zero knowledge of technical stuff even after having a degree from this college. Also, no big companies came to the campus and all the small and mid-cap companies that came offered jobs which, forget about your desires of a healthy life, couldn’t even fulfill your basic desires. When it comes to consideration by the companies, 10 out of 100 got selected and obviously I was in that remaining 90.

There’s a vast difference between college infrastructure and hostel infrastructure. IES College of Technology hostel is good from outside but the twin sharing rooms were so small and even the cot provided looked like bought second hand from a hospital. It was stinking and just one cupboard to be shared between two students. The college is also on the outskirts of the city and so the option of staying outside was never for us. In IES Group of Institutions, hostels are much better than IES College of Technology but we had no choice but to live in that hostel that only had food as one of the plus points.

IES College of Technology has an infrastructure that will leave you numb. One vast building with four sections divided in it. The library of the campus is digital and fully air-conditioned. The books were less comparatively but one will find all course books over there. In IES College of Technology, the food was nice but the minus point was that there was no sitting area and we had to stand and eat our food. Sports were the only thing taken seriously over here and for that the college has maintained both its grounds really well. One ground has been converted into a hockey field and stands too have been built over there. Indoor sports facilities too were good but the only minus point there was that the swimming pool was too small.

Coming so far and getting nothing in return I don’t think will please anyone. The college used to host lots of events but it was the locals who found fun in organizing the events and participating in them.
