VJCET Ranks Among the Top 15 in Kerala’s KTU Affiliated Colleges

VJCET comes under the APJ Abdul Kalam Kerala Technical University. The college itself is very famous here in Kerala. It ranks 14th among 144 colleges under KTU University. The campus is very beautiful and green. The campus itself is amazing and very clean. The Lab facilities are well maintained and are in par with the newest technologies. The faculties are also supportive and help to bring out the complete potential of a student. The college also offers a vast library, cafeteria, GYM, and basketball courts. The gym is not available during the college time. This is from 8:55 AM in the morning to 4:15 PM in the evening. The difference I found in this institute was that it actually helps the student to improve the academic performance that is it deals with students individually and the efforts they put towards it are truly appreciable.

I have chosen B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering. I chose this course because I was interested in semiconductors. The entry requirements for the college would different for different seats. There are NRI, Management, and Merit Quota seats. The requirement for each seat is different. For NRI seat, I believe there are no requirements but the fee would be a little high compared to other quota seats. For the Management seat, there is a requirement, which is to qualify the KEAM entrance exam. For Government quota schemes there is no other criteria other than they should be allocated the seats by the government itself. As for the exams, two internal exams and one semester exam happen within a semester. The two internal exams are conducted by the college itself and semester exam is being conducted by the university. It sure is very interesting but on the same side, it is very hectic as well. For the first few months, I was not able to do anything after coming home apart from my homework and assignments. Actually, I did not have the time to be involved in other things. However, when taken into account the fact that one day I have to work in a corporate company and it is going to be more hectic than this I believe if I change, it would be in favor for me.

I have paid a total amount of Rs. 58,565 in a year. It includes the semester fee of Rs. 38565 and an additional Rs. 20,000 that includes caution deposit and University fees. The above-mentioned fee is only for one semester. Therefore, for a year you would have to pay around Rs. 80,000. Sorry I don't know about the financial aid.

The faculty members are well educated and responsible as well. They are very approachable and supportive. They teach us in many ways. Each faculty has his/her own way of teaching but mostly they use PPTs and blackboards to teach us. Their style of teaching is very much understandable and they teach things in clarity. As a student, I have observed the fact that we have been able to approach the faculty members, as they are ready to attend us at any time. I don't know about the teacher to student ratio.

There is a placement cell in our campus. They train us on how to attend an interview and how to crush the competition. They organized a two-day placement program, which was helpful. I think it boosted the overall confidence of our class. It had many activities, which help us learn soft skills. Apart from soft skills, they also help us learn hard skills as well. The average package offered is almost 3.84 LPA.

Yes, there are hostel facilities. However, I am not a hostler.

The campus of VJCET comprises of three main buildings: The Hotel Management block, The B.Tech Block, and The MBA block. When you enter the college from the main entrance, the first building that you see is the Hotel Management block and after that, you will find the auditorium then the % block building having the R & D department, Engineering department as well as the MBA department. Each block is connected to another. It is big with almost 26 acres of land.

The overall campus life is average but still the academic side is good. Yes, there are many clubs here but I am not part of any club activities. The college is mainly about academic performances. Still, it lacks in cultural programs. I have been here for almost 4 months and there is only cultural program I attended, a Christmas celebration and apart from that nothing at all.
