Institute of Forensic Science Nagpur Fee Structure and Scholarships

The institute provides a very good detailed knowledge and skills about Forensic Science. As this is a government institute, the fee here is very minimum (Rs. 4,000 to 5,000 per year). If you are interested in Forensic Science, you must take admission in this institute. It take admission based on merit. The government job opportunities are increased if you are passing out from this institute especially Master’s degree.

I was hoping to be admitted in Government Institute of Forensic Science as I had decided to do this course in secondary school. It requires percentage above 90 in 12th grade. As mentioned earlier, the admission is done on the merit basis and caste category wise. You have to fill up the registration form first and then the admission forms (both online). Then the institute uploads the merit lists on its official website. Then you can visit the institute with your required documents on the given date. The exams are taken semester wise after every 90 days of course completion. The academics prepare each student very well for the real life challenges and build up their self-confidence as well.

The fee of the Bachelor’s degree is Rs. 5,000 per year and the fee of semester exam is Rs. 1,500 per semester. An admission fee is Rs. 5,000 per year. There are government scholarships provided for particular caste categories. It also provides NSP and MAHADBT scholarships.

The faculty members are very friendly and supportive. They teach very well. The faculty members are mostly PhD holders and were hired through MPSC exam qualification so they have very deep and vast knowledge about the particular subject they are teaching. They have very good problem solving ability and skills. They teach through PPTs via digital classrooms. The teacher student ratio here is, 1:10. I had a very good experience with faculty members.

Government Institute of Forensic Science has a specific placement with some of the faculty members. It collaborates with various cyber related companies and provide training as well as placement to the students. The Quick Heal Company conducts placement related activities for the students and offer them packages as per the post. I do not have any placement experience with the institute yet.

As the institute is government institute, it allows the students to get admission in the government hostel. You have to fill up the hostel admission form to get admission in government hostel. It does not charge any fee to reside in the government hostel and provides free food as well. The girl’s and the boy’s hostels are separate. I wasn’t staying in government hostel, I was residing in a private hostel. If someone don’t get admission in government hostel, there are many other options to stay near institute.

The campus building is very old (British era) and small. It is located in civil lines area. There are only two classrooms for B.Sc students and M.Sc student’s classes are held in the labs only. The classrooms are very large and digitally equipped. The labs are very large and equipped with laboratory equipment as well. There are some auditoriums and library as well. There is one canteen in the campus. My favorite place as a part of institute infrastructure is labs. All the labs are amazing.

The campus life is average. The institute organizes annual functions and sports competitions as well. The life is pretty decent here. There are no clubs though. Government Institute of Forensic Science also organizes some educational visits for the students.
