Kolkata National medical College is one of the prominent medical College in the state of West Bengal situated in the heart of City Kolkata. I got admission in this college by clearing my NEET UG exam. I chose this college because this was the best college that I could get in based opn my rank. This is a quite good college to learn medicine from the prominent faculties of the state. The patient flow in this hospital is very large. You can learn things based on your practical of medicine very well from hospital duties. The college functions and other types of programs that are organized in every 2 to 3 months. This is unmatched in any medical colleges in India. You can enjoy the journey of medicine through these heartwarming festivals. The senior-junior relation in this college is so good. You will never feel left alone or feel home sick.

I chose the course to fulfill my childhood dream of being a doctor and treating patients who are in the very bad stage of the life in a hospital bed. This is one of the best colleges to do so. The entry of this college requires a good rank in the NEET UG examination. You can get some profit if you have caste certificate like OBC, ST or SC or if you are physically challenged. Admission process of the college is very simple if you have a good rank in the NEET exam during your college selection procedure, you can choose this college and come to the college for documents verification. Later the process is very straight forward and it won’t take more than one day. Exams in this course is taken as per the guideline of National medical council. The exam is conducted by West Bengal health University at a frequency of 1 year. This is a skill and learning based program and in this course you are basically think how to treat a people in emergency condition as well as in elective basis. As a professional course this college teaches really well to tackle the patients very well.

The monthly fee of this college for academics is on the 750. You have total 9 semesters. Each semester duration is 6 months so there are total 45 months. The students need to pay admission fees of Rs. 5,000 in the beginning of 1st year. No other extra charges are taken from the college itself. If you are a student of West Bengal then you can get up to 1 lakh scholarship or more than that every year.

Only the best teachers in the West Bengal managers to be professors and they know very well what to teach and how to tackle patients and how to tackle the students too. The faculties are very prominent in their way to teach you, there way of medicine and by the way of helping the patients. The classes are taken in black boards and in the PPT basis. There are theory and practical classes everyday from the beginning of your first day and you have to attend clinics from the second year onwards to interact with real patient and learn the medicine. The other real doctors teach you how to tackle any situation, how to tackle any problem during daily basis and we can learn from them during our daily duty alongside them. There are good and bad professors but everybody can teach you what is medicine and how to learn it and use it in daily life.

After the completion of your four and half years academics we have to do a mandatory internship program for 1 years with a salary of approximately Rs.30,000 for years. This is the highest among all the states of India. If you manage to be in the top 100 of your batch you can get a job where 1 month salary is approximately Rs. 50,000. After the completion of your internship or the job you have got, you get into any hospital on nursing home at a fee of Rs, 70,000 to 1 lakh per month based on how many hours you are giving to your duty at that hospital. This course and I will see you get job very easily in any part of the country as well as abroad.

The hostel for the girls is very good but the problem arises in case of boys, there are less number of accommodation for the boys so everyone do not get the Government hostel which is very cheap and affordable. If you don’t get a chance to stay ta the government hostel then the students need to stay out of the hostel for that reason. The monthly charges for the hostel are just 12 rupees and it includes electricity and water bill. The boy’s hostel is small and is not innovated from long time. The rooms are although good as there are only 2 to 3 students per room. There are big enough rooms to accommodate them easily.

The college and academic buildings and the hospital are on opposite sides of a street. Frankly speaking the hospital as well as academy buildings are a little small with respect to other medical colleges of West Bengal but academic building is well equipped and oriented to teach 250 students of four batches. There could have been some improvement in the college in terms of colors and gardening. This is always chaotic because lots of patient comes every day. This totally depends on the government of West Bengal as well as governing bodies of the college. The lecture theatres can accommodate more than 200 students and there are lots of small rooms to teach you in small groups for the practical purposes. The labs are well equipped with instruments and are used for the students to practice. Library is quite big and air conditioned. Common room is well decorated with air conditioner. There is a separate canteen in hospital and college but the food is average in the canteens. Lots of societies are there for drama, dance, cricket, debate and many more to enjoy the college life with your hobby.

The overall college experience is good except only the size and length of the college the infrastructure of the college. This college has the best senior-junior relationship. Best of college fests are organized here every year. There are various clubs and groups in the college where you can participate to make your life fun and follow your hobbies and extracurricular activities. It organizes the largest med fest of eastern India called the ‘Agon’. Everything is good about the college and the infrastructure of the college is mediocre. The lecture theatres are quite good too.
