BIT Durg: Admissions Through Chhattisgarh PET

Like other, JEE aspirants have also given so many exams other than JEE such as COMEDK, IMUCET, NDA, and many more. After so many attempts in many exams, I come to know about the CGPET that is the engineering entrance exam for students of Chhattisgarh specifically. I took admission in other university in Bilaspur and the course I chose was B.Sc. In real, I was not interested B.Sc. that's why I took admission in BIT Durg. The overall experience in institute is good. The faculties and teaching experience is excellent and campus has a good vibe. There are many factors, which pushed me to get admission in this institute. Firstly, the prestige of this institute as it was establishing year 1986, so it is one of the oldest engineering institute in Chhattisgarh. Secondly, the alumni network of this institute is very strong. Lastly, the placement of this institute is far better than other private engineering institutes in Chhattisgarh. These were the basic factors, which let me to take admission in this institute.

The admission process of this institute is very simple, you just have to clear the CGPET exam. Then students have to wait for the results and counseling process. There are 2 to 3 counseling rounds, conducted by the DTE of Chhattisgarh Engineering Department. with the good percentile, you can choose this institute and whichever branch you are interested in. Moreover, if you are having any caste certificate then it will be more beneficial for you. The questions, which are asked in this exam, are very easy as they from 11 to 12th grade syllabus. If you are preparing for JEE, you can easily crack this exam. You can also choose your reference for different institutes. All the engineering institutes in Chhattisgarh come under CSVTU that is Swami Vivekananda Technical University. Other courses of institute are MBA ,MCA, M.Tech, and PhD.

The fees structure of BIT Durg is not very high. The semester wise fee for academics is Rs. 40,000. The caution fee is paid only in first year, which you will get after the completion of your course. There are not discounts but there are scholarships provided to the reserved category students and there is certain waiver given to the students of ST, SC, and OBC category if they provide their caste certificate, which is availed by Reliance foundation JSW.

One of the best part of this institute is its experienced faculty. Each department’s faculty is well trained to teach the student and make them a good engineer. Most of the professors are having more than 20 years of experience. The HODs are having more than 25 years of experience. All the faculties have their PhD degrees. They have also attended many seminars, and published so many international generals. The method of teaching in our institute is also good. The teachers also tell us about the university exams as well as how to prepare for GATE and other competitive examinations. The teacher to student ratio in our department is 1:60. The teacher is supportive and if someone has any query, they can easily contact to the teacher.

As I have discussed, the placement is one of the important factor to get admission in this institute. The placement cell of this institute has a good network with the companies. The cell contacts them to hire students. Some of them are very prestigious like TCS, cognizant, Accenture, and some other core companies. For students of Civil and Mechanical branch, there are like Ambuja. For Technical branch students companies like Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Larsen & Toubro, Infotech and many more are invited. The highest package, which was offered, was 20 LPA and the average package is also good as comparing to the other institutes in Chhattisgarh. It is around 5 to 6 LPA. As I am a student of 2nd year, I have no experience of placement still but I have attended so many seminars, which is why I was able to give these insights.

The hostel is good. I want say it is best. The boy’s hostel is inside the campus. For all the four different year students of engineering, there are four separate hostels. For safety purposes, the girl’s hostel is outside the campus. Coming to the mess food provided, it is sufficient hygienic and good. Students are not restricted to have as many servings as they want. In special occasions, the mess also provides special food. The hostel fee is Rs. 40,000 per semester. The rules and regulation in the hostel are not so much strict but yes, they are there to hold students as per guidelines. As I am staying in the hostel since first year, I have never faced any problems in the hostel. The bonding in the hostel is the best part of the campus life.

The infrastructure is good. It has a lush green campus. Its area is more than 50 acres. There are 4 academic blocks for separate engineering departments. There is a big central library and an administrative block. In each block, there are three floors and in each floor, there are more than 20 classrooms. The classrooms are big, ventilated, and big enough to accommodate 60 students. There are conference halls, seminar halls and one big indoor auditorium (known as Close Audi). There is an open auditorium for cultural events. About the food outlet, there is a canteen. For sports facilities, there is a big sports complex where you can play football. There are cricket nets, basketball field, etc. For medical issues, there is a clinic inside the campus.

Overall campus life experience of BIT Durg is good what I have felt. This can also be because I am a student of hostel. Every year, there is an intake of more than 700 engineering students. Also, the crowd in the institute is huge but it doesn’t feel crowded because the campus is big. there are many clubs in our institute such as Vista club, BOL club, astro club, techno hub club, robotics club, lasya: the dance club, alankar: the singing club, and many more. I am a member of BOL club. There are annual fest and events held named as OJAS. Each club has its own small event like astro club conducts Aayaam. At last, I only say that the college life is the best life of an student. The B.Tech students are very talented. Overall campus life in BIT Durg is very good. I suggest if you are a student in Chhattisgarh, you must consider being part of this institute
