B.Sc Sports Coaching at National Sports University Imphal

My experience in National Sports University, Imphal is very great and unforgettable. From 2018 to 2022, these four years are my best years of my life. I really enjoyed a lot with my friends and I learnt a lot. The courses that it is offering are very unique and new in India. They are also recognized By Sports Ministry and another institutes. After completing this degree, you will be eligible to give coaching and grab job opportunity as a sports coach in various sectors. It is Central University, which makes it different from others.

I chose B.Sc Sports Coaching course because from starting, I wanted to go in my specific discipline. This was possible by becoming the sports coach and this is only course, which allows you to become sports coach after 12th grade. First for being eligible to enroll in this course, you should be 12th pass with minimum 50% marks and should hold a national level participation certificate in your specific sports, after this you have to pass all tests, which includes written test, physical test, sports proficiency test, and interview. Then only you will be admitted in this course. This course consists of 8 semesters (4 years). In 5 months, there will be end semesters exams. After clearing all the semester, then only you will be awarded with this degree. In this course, there are theory classes, which take place in classrooms, and there are physical classes, which take place in the respective ground according to their specific sports.

During my time, per semester tuition fee was Rs. 5,000, Medical insurance was Rs. 1,000, Examination fee was Rs. 1,500, Sports fund was Rs. 1,200, Development fund was Rs. 1,200, Medical fund was Rs. 500, Student cultural society fund was Rs. 500, Student welfare fund was Rs. 1,000 and Library fund was Rs. 500 per semester.

In my course, most of the faculty was very experienced and highly knowledgeable. All faculties had background of Sports Science and their respective sports. Most of the faculty had approachable behavior. There was many teachers, may be having ratio 30 students to 1 teacher.

There is placement cell in National Sports University, Imphal, which helps alumni to get placement at various sectors. They used multiple ways to keep students updated about recent job opportunities. In our batch, approximately 50% students got placements as rest of them opted for higher studies. I got a job as an Assistant Coach at Directorate of education (sports branch), Govt. of NCT Delhi with starting package of 7 LPA.

Hostels are mandatory for all the students. it does not allow residing in rented PGs or houses outside the premises. It has hostels for boys and girls separately. In one room, 2 students are residing. Rooms are spacious with all the basic amenities (like fan, table, chair, almirah, etc.)
Mess food is ok in quality and in quantity (not so good or either not so bad). Mess fee was Rs. 20,000 per semester and Hostel and Electricity fees was Rs. 2,000 per semester. There are some rules and timings of Hostel, as it does not allow any student to go and roam outside the hostels after 8 PM without any permission of authority.

Campus is big enough with all the sports facilities for the sports like rowing canal, basketball, football, multipurpose hall, gym, archery, swimming pool, weightlifting, martial arts hall, weight training area, and sports science room with all new high tech equipment. Campus has academic block, administrative block, faculty residential areas and many more. Academic classes have audiovisual smart boards, comfortable seats, and proper ventilation. We used to enjoy at the park located in between the campus, enjoying regional food.

My campus life is very great. We have experienced great things in these four years. University has good crowd because of the many courses in university. There are cultural clubs, literary clubs, dance clubs, and many clubs with different work. Every month, there is an intramural competition between all four houses of universities. Many fests also take place time to time. like Onam fest, freshers , farewell, teachers day, Christmas, etc.
