Admission Process: How to Get Into Saveetha School of Law

I joined Saveetha School of Law in June 2024. I was excited to pursue Law. I had studied in the ISC board, which gave me a clear understanding of the course beforehand. I opted Commerce in my 11th and 12th grades. My marks were above 80%, which helped me get through the benchmark they had for most colleges in Tamil Nadu. Before I could come to any conclusion, I applied to all possible colleges, but I prioritized a few colleges as they were ranked higher in providing quality education, and Saveetha School of Law was at the top of the list. As soon as I joined, I found the system of courses very different from what I heard from my seniors when I was at the school. It took me 3 months to understand the working of the college, after which I started to look into various opportunities that were made available by the college and started working on them to develop various skills, as the college organizes at least one conference in a month, and sometimes it can go up to 3 in the same month along with two other festival celebrations or cultural events. Researching is taken very seriously by our college, as it is seen as a very important skill for an advocate, because of which it has ranked 11 in the NIRF ranking all over India and No. 1 in Tamil Nadu. I had my college days as day, it was scholar, and the timing of entry and exit was maintained in a very strict manner. The best part of the college is its library, which is open 24/7 to all the students.

To get into the college, the candidate must hold a minimum of 60% in their 12th, and after which there will be entrance exams, group discussion sessions, and interviews for all. Academics are of Saveetha School of Law stay undisputed. We have very strict timeline to follow for academic responsibilities and project submissions. The college follows CBCS (Choice Based Credit System), which means we can choose the faculty and the subject that we are going to study for the next quarters. In each quarter, we have four subjects, and we will have liberty to choose the order of subjects and teachers for the same, which helps a lot in planning out the next 3 months. Since all the subjects are covered continuously, one after another, without any summer or winter holidays, the 5-year course can be completed by, the end of the 4th year, and one full year is availed for the purpose of an internship. We have to study on the regular basis (despite the exams) so that we can have thorough knowledge of the students. This will act as a foundation in our internship days, and the continuous internship opportunity allows us to find the right company to work under. Apart from this model of study, we have compulsory research, which has to be done for every subject, and the college provides a learning experience with advanced research tools. The most important part is the college provides us with an ipads & keyboard, and all our research and presentation has to be done on the same.

The college has a one-time fee payment structure, which is 3 LPA for academics. We have to pay Rs. 800 to download our hall tickets for writing each exam. This 3-lakh fee includes all the charges from registration, admission, and all other expenses. The fee is not collected in cash but rather as DD to the banks, they prescribe. There are also other scholarships and loan facilities that can be availed of by the students for support, and there are also a few scholarships for those who do exceptionally well in sports.

The faculty members are quite well qualified and experienced in their own area of teaching. Most of the faculties have completed their PhDs, which makes them experts in their area of teaching and also gives them a lot of practical knowledge, which they share with us and guide us at the time of the internship. The teachings are entirely done on smart boards through PPTs, and bare acts are also referred to for the purpose of learning. They all are quite friendly with the students. The faculties are extremely good at analyzing the various problems that we face as students in academics. In my personal opinion, I have approached almost all faculties regarding help in many matters, from research to planning out my legal career.

I've heard many good things about the placement opportunities here, and it's quite reassuring. Since we will complete our academic subjects within 4 years, we are provided with an ample amount of internship opportunities, which allows us to choose our job opportunities, but apart from that, there are also other firms and corporate companies that will be made available by the college. The college also provides us with an opportunity to start working on startups. Predominantly, students choose their own area of focus, such as Labor Law, Corporate, Civil, or Criminal, and based on the student's choice of assistance from the college, it is optimized. From what seniors have shared, the placement cell is very supportive, providing training sessions on resume building, interview skills, and other soft skills that are important for getting placed. They also bring in guest lectures and workshops from industry professionals, which help us understand what's expected in the real world. Overall, the placement support at Saveetha School of Law will provide us with all the fundamentals that are required to land a job of our choice. Finally, most importantly, the college does not mandate students to opt for an internship if they have plans to pursue a career in the judiciary; they provide us exemptions to those who are preparing for the judiciary exams, and within a short period, the college has placed 13 civil judges already.

I have found the hostel facilities to be quite comfortable and convenient. The rooms are clean and well maintained, with options for single and shared rooms, depending on what the students prefer. The hostels are designed to provide a comfortable living space, which makes it easier to focus on studies without worrying about basic needs. There's a good sense of bond among hostel students. The hostel fee varies based on the type of accommodation chosen; for example, super deluxe single rooms are priced at Rs.1,50,000 per year, while ultra super deluxe double rooms cost Rs. 1,25,000 per year. They are paid annually, and the mess charges are separate. The canteen provides us with a variety of food options, and it is upon us to choose our own meal for the day. The rooms are well furnished with study tables, beds, almirah, and fans for each student with separate washrooms and bathrooms to maintain hygiene. Additionally, free Wi-Fi is available on our iPads. The curfew times are 10 PM at night. The students who use library for late-night studies, are provided some relaxation in this timeline.

I have found the infrastructure to be sufficient and student-friendly. The classrooms are modern and air-conditioned, equipped with smart boards. The seating is comfortable but fixed. The library is the best part of the college, with digital resources, various books, and a dedicated computer center, making it a perfect spot for research and study. The moot court hall is another impressive feature designed to replicate a real courtroom, and there are two moot court halls that are well air-conditioned. We are also supported by seminar halls, which are again well designed and are constantly used for various conference organizing. The campus also ensures our safety with CCTV surveillance and a well-maintained security system. Overall, the infrastructure supports both academic and personal development, making it a great place to be.

My overall campus life has been a mix of excitement, learning, and personal growth. The campus is lively, and there's always something happening, which makes it an engaging place to be. From the day I stepped in, it has always been a welcoming experience from both seniors and faculties, as they are approachable and supportive. We have several clubs organizing various events often, which gives us the opportunity to exhibit our skills and puts us in touch with various like-minded people. There are plenty of extracurricular activities and engagement events organized by Saveetha School of Law. We have workshops, guest lectures, cultural programs, and sports events happening frequently, which keeps us busy and entertained. The college also celebrates festivals with much enthusiasm, bringing in a festive mood that feels like home to most of the hostellers. The perfect balance of academic rigor and extracurricular fun makes it a well-rounded experience, and I have already made a lot of good memories in just a few months of the college.
