SSL is approved by the reputed BCI and UGC, accredited by NAAC-A++, and is affiliated with Saveetha University, Chennai. Management of SSL Chennai is working under Dr.N.M.Veeraiyan (Chancellor).

With a claim to be the oldest private law college in Chennai, the Saveetha School of Law was set up in the year 2009 under the aegis of the Saveetha Institute of Management and Technical Studies and was founded by Dr. N. M. Veeraiyan. It is a NAAC-accredited institution, recognised by the BCI and approved by the UGC. The college runs to provide quality legal education and the vision to provide education that is relevant to human development and legal order.
SSL offers the curriculum with a Choice Based Credit System with the flexibility to choose the faculty and subject at the students’ convenience. It has motivated the students to excel in academics as well the extracurricular activities such as Client Counseling, Mock Trials, Moot Court, and numerous Community Outreach Programs.

Student Exchange Programs are also organised by the college for the students in collaboration with International University Partners like Queen Mary University, London; AIMST, Malaysia; Nottingham Trent University, United Kingdom; and Swinburne University, Malaysia.

The candidate has to click the Admissions tab on the home page of the official website of the college, which then will be directed to the page with the Admission Application Form. The students are expected to fill up the form, upload the necessary documents, and then submit the form.
Distinct Eligibility Criteria are listed below for all the courses:
BA LLB Hons.
Cleared 10+2 or equivalent and scored at least 60% marks.
Selection based on Saveetha Law Admission Test (SLAT)/ CLAT Scores, Personal Interview, and GD.
BBA LLB Hons.
B. Com. LLB Hons.
Completed any 3/5–year LLB Degree and scored at least 50% marks.
The criteria for selection is Interview and GD
Qualified graduation with at least 50% marks.

Completed a Master's Degree in Law and scored at least 55% marks (for the general category) and 50% (for SC/ ST/ OBC categories).
A Ph. D in Law
Published as the main author or at least 7 articles in the peer-reviewed/ referred journals.
A teaching experience of a minimum of 10 years.

The campus of Saveetha School of Law is within the premises of The Saveetha Institute of Management and Technical Studies, which is spread across 180+ acres of land. Numerous facilities that are provided by the college are:
Hostels: Residential facilities are available for male and female students. The hostel is Wi-Fi enabled. The rooms range from super deluxe full furnished single room dormitories that can accommodate up to 8 students to single and double occupancy rooms.
Moot court: Air-conditioned with the latest audio-visual facilities and presentation equipment the moot court present at the campus provides the students with realistic exposure.
Library: With over 8,000+ books and journals and a computer center the library is provided to the students.
Class Rooms: With a combination of classrooms and inbuilt staff centers, the “Claff Rooms” at the college, give the students an air-conditioned hybrid learning space.
Seminar Hall: With a capacity to accommodate over 120 students, the seminar hall at the campus is for group learning and discussions available for the students.
Cafeteria: Over 200 students can be accommodated in the 2 canteens that are present on the campus. Meals are offered to all students.
