St. Mary's College: Courses, Facilities, and More

It is located at Puthanangadi. St. Mary's college is a self financial college under the Calicut University which is very good in its education. The college offers a wide range of Under Graduate and Post Graduate programs in Arts, Science and Commerce. The campus is well equipped with modern facilities, huge computer lab with lots of fresh computers, libraries, sports room, etc. Teachers are very supportive and will be with the students for every good thing. There will be internal exam between every semester for the best results. One of the standout features of St. Mary's is that it supports all students on extracurricular activities. It has arts day, sports day, union inauguration day and association inauguration day for each of the departments in there. These days are very colorful and they gift us memories for a life time. Overall St. Mary's college is an excellent college and it is a very good choice for those who are seeking a supportive learning environment. This college is definitely worth considering.

St. Mary's college, Puthanangadi has best reputation in it's academic excellence. The academic curriculum offers a wide range of UG, PG programs in science, arts and commerce. There are various courses and add on course for it too. The course I have selected was Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA). I liked the Computer field and that's why I joined this course. When I decided about my course, next thing was to find best college with course. After researching many colleges, I got here. Here the computer lab is a big hall consisting of new and fresh computers approximately 120-150. It has projectors too in it. The labs are well equipped for our studies and are very good. I would rate the lab as high marks. The exams are held in each semester. The exams conducted include mid-sem exam and end-sem exam with internals. These internal exams help us prepare for the exams and these practices are very good which is not available to see in many colleges. The exams are very well disciplinary arranged and is very good. There are teams to check cheating and ensure a good examination. Therefore the results that they get here are very good when checked with other colleges. This makes this college different from other colleges.

The fees structure of almost every college is similar across Calicut University. Anyways here, if we are entering by giving donation it will be around twenty thousand. The semester fee for first semester is around R5s. 22,000 and in 2nd year it’s around Rs. 18,000 and these repeat for the six semesters consecutively. The other fee for various things like the celebrations and other days but it only needs less amount of money while compared to other colleges here.

There are up to twelve departments here and each department consists of at least 4 teachers. The commerce department is one of the biggest department as well as it has many teachers in it. The course BCA chosen by me comes under the department of computer science. This department consists of four teachers. One Head of department and others. All are very good at teaching. Their teaching pattern is very good and everything can be well understood. They also use new technologies in the teaching method. The faculties are very supportive in everything and in my opinion every student should make use of this. Our bonding with the teachers is increasing with each day and this too is a good sign. Overall the faculties are very helpful and very supportive. They are also always ready to help us to resolve our doubts.

The Campus offers placement opportunities to the aspiring students. There are campus placements held every year and if you are eligible enough you will get placements. There are many people who have got placements from here too.

The college offers hostel for girls. The hostel is very well maintained and is spacious enough. The distance between hostel and college is walking distance. All the boys stay at a house which is used as a hostel. Therefore the hostel is not at all a problem in this college.

St. Mary's college consists of various buildings named main block, library block, auditorium block, PG block, etc. The campus has parking areas which is a wide one and also the buildings are very huge and very well maintained. Campus has a big size too. There is college ground at a side which is very big and can play and practice football, cricket, etc. It also consists of volleyball field too. There are various halls like audio visual hall with AC and other new technology applied rooms, seminar halls, libraries in which every week new books arrive. In sports room there are many accessories to play games. The college also consists of a big Canteen. The canteen has different types of snacks that are offered at a reasonable price. It is spacious and is very good to discuss or to talk with your friends. There is also NSS here which is one of my favorites. The college has an active NSS here which is very good and recently it took project from government too, To paint a wall near to Angadippuram Polytechnic college.

The overall campus life of St. Mary's college is very good as we have various programs. The college life can be seen to be very beautiful because not only its the best college but also because of some true friendships. The college crowd is very friendly and also it is a ragging free college. Seniors are very friendly and supportive. There are many clubs here such as ED club, anti drug club, NSS, etc. I am in the NSS and I finished my seven day camp too. The events such as Onam, Christmas, Keralapiravi, Union Inauguration, etc. are celebrated very beautifully. The college asks for small amount to organize the events smoothly. All the students can participate in the events to make a wonderful campus life memory. Till now the college has only gifted good memories to me with various days, fests and the results of exams that were also very good. The college is one of the best in Calicut University and I recommend you to come and study here because it gives you some good memories for life.
