UIET Chandigarh: Best Choice if You Don't Get IITs & NITs

Overall Rating
First of all, UIET Chandigarh is under Panjab University, its name is enough. It has much strong alumni network. Seniors help me whenever I need them or having issue with life goals. Since its in PU campus, you will also get the university exposure.
 

Academics Rating
I am currently pursuing BE in IT branch, well it is the best branch which I was getting. As for entry, you can give JEE Main and apply in JAC Chandigarh (which have different institutes like CCET, Dr. SS Bhatnagar, etc.). We have 2 minors (marks are chosen from best one) each of 30 marks, 1 major of 50 marks and there are 20 marks for internal. Like other engineering institutes, it also prepare us for real-life challenges.
In first, my fee was 1.5 Lakh, out of which Rs. 40,000 to 45,000 are submitted at the starting and second payment is done around November or December. There are many scholarships you will get information about them when you get into institute.
 

Faculty Rating
All faculties are highly educated, while currently pursuing PhD. Some of faculty members have also completed their degree from foreign. Some are friendly while some are very strict. Every teacher is good in his/her field, if you want some guidance. They will always guide you. Some teachers are very strict for their homework and notebook. Other than that, I will say always maintain a good relation with all teachers.
 

Placement Rating
Here, there is TPC or you can say Training Placement cell, which help in getting placement. Here, many students got placement in KPMG, Deloitte, American Expression, etc. Many companies offer 40-50 LPA offer, while some give 20-30 LPA. As for internship, you have to find it yourself.
 

Hostel Rating
There are total 8 boy’s hostels, 10 girl’s hostels, and 1 international hostel in the university premises. Not every student get hostel, but this problem generally come for boys only. There BH8, IH, GH8,GH9 and GH10 near UIET department.
 

Infrastructure Rating
There are 3 blocks, a workshop, a canteen, and café. Recently, a Tech shop is also opened. In Block 2, there are no ACs but in Block 1. There are ACs in rooms as for Block 3 also called Mechanical block have labs for Mechanical. Block 1 has labs for IT and CSE. Labs are fully equipped. There is a library and a reading room also.
 

Campus Rating
I generally say, there are some ups and downs, but you will enjoy every moment of your institute life. Institute crowd is ok. There are many clubs, committee, and cells such as for entrepreneurship, photography, art, sports, automation, programming, placement, comedy, bhangra, singing, etc. There is a fest organized by BPC (Brand Promotion Committee) called Utsav. Before it, there was legacy. There is Goonj. University is also continuing ‘Umang’, which was stopped after Covid. For sports, there is a sports committee, which organizes different tournaments and participate in sports tournaments of IIT and NITs.

    I'm currently an IT Undergrad sophomore from UIET, Panjab University. Talking about the institute, it's pretty decent. You'll hear about many private institutes, but trust me Engineering campus of Panjab University (UIET) is way better than many private institutes.     UIET is the engineering department of Panjab University. It is a tier 1 college. It is a nice college with a competitive study environment, The faculty is really approachable and the facilities for research are great. Placements for most of the streams are good except for Biotech which is improving. The alumni have done exceptionally well. The seniors are helpful for curriculum as well as placement prep.     Overall Chandigarh University gives you top notch infrastructure and facilities when it comes to studies and campus life. Although, the quantity of students is a matter of concern.
