Academic Structure at JIT Bangalore for Computer Science Students

My overall experience in Jyothy Institute of Technology is good. I am pursuing B.Tech in Computer Science. I have keen interest in computer from the beginning, wanted to pursue a career in it or Computer Technology or field, and thought I would do pretty good at it. The seniors are quite supportive here. The teaching and non-teaching staff is also good. Few of them can improve their teaching style. The institute has good academic infrastructure and facilities. One needs to work during the journey in order to excel in the future.

At first, the institute used to conduct 2 internals but now there are 3 internals and take average of those 3 internals and end the semester with final exams. I got the seat through my COMEDK rank that was around 38k. My KCET and board percentage was not up to the mark. I did visit the campus to see & understand the admission process and was suggested this institute by a friend. The COMEDK results were yet to come and were confused to book the seat or not. I decided to wait for COMEDK results as I checked the cutoff of last year as it aligned well and was glad to have got the seat. There are no other criteria for admission. It is solely based on COMEDK, JEE, and KCET ranking along with their respective counseling. Some student can also enroll through payment or management seat. As our institute is associated with VTU, its new scheme is diluted compared to previous year syllabus to make student's journey less burdensome. This is done while keeping some relevance and application to engineering level. For those who have taken Computer Science, there are many topics, which are very important and still very industry relevant. What I would suggest is to keep being engaged in question based exercises, which forces us to go out of our comfort zone, search, and apply a certain specific function or a method.

Well I joined through specified exam, I paid Rs. 1, 89,192, which is tuition fee, and Rs. 25,000 is paid as building fee during the counseling period. After coming here, I paid Rs. 15,000 as VTU skill development fee. If you have good rank or 12th percentage, you will have a high ground with negotiations.

When it comes to faculty, all the teachers teaching in Jyothy Institute of Technology are pretty good. They are highly qualified and have a keen interest in teaching and seeing their students rise above, not just with marks but in life. Their style differs from person to person.

The placement cell is pretty professional and is handled by qualified personnel who are enthusiastic and very much interested in getting placed students in good companies. The average package in Jyothy Institute of Technology is around 4 to 6 LPA. There were cases where students went to Japan with their JLPT exam score with N3 level of Japanese speaking. One of the senior was also placed in USA with the CTC of 44,000 Dollars. There were others who got 10 LPA but very few. The placement cell conducts weekly tests and one benchmark test in 5th semester to find eligible students for placement. This is based on technical, aptitude and other factors such as communication and skills. Then, they are pushed further to take up interviews, tests, and other testing grounds in companies that arrive to employ the students. They even conduct training to improve student's communication, aptitude, and technical strength so that they are industry ready. This year also, training for placement begins even for 3rd sem students, which were the case for first, time in JIT this was pioneered.

The institute's campus is in Thathaguni village, which is pretty safe and peaceful as it is near Kanakpura road. There is no traffic and accidents here. However, one has to be really careful in as there is a metro construction going on along with road repair constantly going on. We have a cafeteria below the 2 buildings provided for engineering. They provide a wide range of refreshments and snacks in a very pocket friendly pricing, considering the students of all backgrounds and financial spectrum can afford a meal without having to pay unnecessarily more. There’s a cafeteria provided for Commerce students too, which is situated just opposite to its respective building. There is a stationary inside Engineering block 1, which provides all sorts of support needed such as photocopy and printout with really reasonable prices that are lesser compared to outside market rate. There is a space for parking. The hangout spots near institute such as food outlets, lakes, etc.

The social life is pretty peaceful and chill in campus. There are students from good background and family with whom you may easily spend 4 years. There is no issue of bullying or ragging as there is anti ragging rule and severe actions are taken if anyone is found committing the offense. The seniors are pretty chill, friendly, and available to help out juniors. They are enthusiastic about any group activities, events and always open to queries if asked upon, to have someone who is gone through the same and hear them out or ask their help. The campus life is really good. There are worships and reverence during the festivals. There are also industrial visits and every now and then. During these occasions, there are many food outlets also.
