Amity University Kolkata: Advanced Learning in Biotechnology

I took admission in Amity University Kolkata in the year 2024. Before taking admission, I visited so many universities for finding best option. In the end, I went into Amity University and I go to know that there are good laboratories and infrastructure. In the end, I decided to choose this university. It has good faculty members. They are well trained and well educated. They teach us well and are very helpful. I have spent few months but I have nice experience in there. It provides us all the facilities we want. The campus is too good. Canteen is neat and clean.

After doing B.Sc in Biotechnology, I chose M.Sc because I love this subject so much. I am interested in the my course related subjects like Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Genetics, Cancer Biology, Spanish, Business Communication, Microbiology, Bioanalytical Tool, Plant Biotechnology, Animal Biotechnology, and so on. The subject that i love the most is Cancer Biology and I want to research on this topic. We do lab for getting well hands on training. For entry, I give online interview and then joined. Students from different Science background can get admission in M.Sc in Biotechnology here. First, we fill the application, and then it takes interview. When we are selected, it elaborates process to payment. We give two exams per semester that are mid-sem and end-sem. we have to give power point presentation and assignment. We have to maintain 75% attendance otherwise; you can't sit for the exam because university is strict about attendance.

1st semester fee is Rs. 64,500 & Rs. 20,000, which makes the total of Rs. 84,500. 2nd semester fee is Rs. 64,500, 3rd semester fee is Rs. 67,500 and for 4th semester, it is Rs. 67,500.

In our Amity University, the faculty is too good. They are well educated and pass out from abroad. All of them are doing PhD. They teach us so well. In AIBNK (Amity Institute of Biotechnology Kolkata). HOI sir is too good as he is helpful. Without him, we can't imagine our Biotechnology department, he teaches us well. Our faculty has good practical knowledge and we get hands on training from them. Faculties are providing all the notes, which we need for study.

In 3rd semester, we saw that many placement drives were organized happen, where many companies came and offered us jobs. We get average package of 5 LPA. Maximum 75% students are placed.

I am not hosteler so I have not much idea about hostel. But some of my friends are in hostel. They told me that hostels are clean and well maintained but hostel doesn’t have mess facility.

Our campus is too big and well maintained. Amity University Kolkata is opposite to the coffee house Newtown. Our classroom is big. We have total 50 students in our biotechnology batch. Library is too big and many books are there. We have auditorium. Canteen is good. It maintains hygiene and food quality is good. My favorite thing is going to canteen and CCD. In our campus, we also have Cafe Coffee Day CCD.

My overall campus life is good. I am enjoying here. However, my course is too tough so I need to study hard and attend all the lectures of the professor. If we miss a lecture, then it will be problematic. In our university there is a fest called ‘Amiphoria’ at end of the February. We also celebrate Christmas, freshers, farewell, mahalaya, and many others.
