MA Applied Psychology at Amity University Kolkata: Admission, Fees & Curriculum

The overall experience was great. The university has great infrastructure and facilities. The subjects offered in this particular course are exactly what I wanted and hence I chose this. This university provides with a lot of facilities like transportation, so if someone lives far from the campus can avail for the university bus services. The department of Psychology has its own counselling cell, which often provides counselling to people free of cost.

The course chosen by me is M.A in Applied Psychology. My motive for choosing this course was to gain in-depth knowledge about human behaviour, I was always interested in understanding myself, and others better. Entry requirement for this course is that one should have at least 50% percentage with no backlogs in Bachelor’s degree. The person can be from any stream or background. The admission process is through an online form filling and uploading of interview videos on their website. Exams happen semester wise, i.e. one exam after 6 months. The academics prepare you for the real world work culture and real life challenges.

For my course, the semester wise fee is around Rs. 42,000 to Rs. 45,000. Since, I have done my graduation in BA (Hons.) Applied Psychology from Amity University, Kolkata as well, I got some concession in every semester. However the admission fee is Rs. 60,000, out of which Rs. 20,000 is security deposit.

The faculty members in this course are highly qualified and experienced. Most of the faculty members hold a PhD in their respective areas, and they are from diverse fields like Organizational, Counselling, Clinical, and Cognitive Psychology. They use various teaching methods like PPTs, classroom discussions, interactive sessions, posters, boards, etc. The teacher student ratio is good and they provide individual attention and care to all. After each internal exam, they provide you with feedback on your progress. The teachers are extremely approachable. They help you with academics and any other problems related to your career or college etc.

The university is well equipped with infrastructure facilities. Amity University, Kolkata has a huge campus, with various canteens, auditorium, hostel, gym, swimming pool, basketball court, and a lot more. The classrooms are spacious; there are gallery classrooms that hold up to 60 students. AC is there in each classroom. The campus has wheelchair facilities, with infirmary, nurse and doctor always there. Facilities like ATM in campus, huge library with access to different books, journals, etc. computer labs with psychological assessment tools etc. are also present. Overall the campus has everything that is needed by the students.

My overall campus life was great. The crowd is good. There are lot clubs like Events Club, Dance, Singing, Culinary, Entrepreneurship, Drama etc. I was an entrepreneurship club. In department, there are lots of engagement activities like Seminars, Workshops, Field Trips etc. There are also many fests. The main fest is ‘Amiphoria’, which is of 3 days. There are other cultural fests like ‘Mahalaya’. In the psychology department there is one academic fest called ‘Psynthesis’. My overall experience was great, I would definitely recommend others this college.
