Campus Life and Academic Flexibility at University Commerce College Jaipur

I secured 91% in my 12th Board exams. It was easy for me to get admission in University Commerce College. Students who can score around 80-82% can get admission in this college. Well first of all it’s a government college, so the college offers many government schemes and aids to its students. But the infrastructure of this college is not that good. The campus is very small and there are no places for students to hang out with their friends and spend some time. Though there is a canteen in the college but again the building of canteen requires improvement. The food is also average. This college is for boys only. Still, I chose this college because the college supports the students who are opting for professional courses like CA, ACCA, CS, etc. as attendance in this college is not mandatory and you can fully concentrate on your course. This is one of the key features which distinguish this college from the other colleges where attendance is mandatory which makes it very difficult for the students who are pursuing professional courses as their career.

I have chosen B.Com (Hons.) ABST course in the college. This is because I am a CA aspirant and the attendance in the college is not mandatory so I can focus on achieving the CA degree without any pressure from college. In addition with this, the course of B.Com is already covered under the course of CA so I don't need to study any extra for my college examination. This made me to opt for this course. Any student who has scored around 80% and more in their 12th boards are eligible for this course in the college. To get admission in this college, first you need to apply online on the official website of Rajasthan University with required documents. Then you need to verify the documents asked by the college authority in offline by visiting the college. Then you need to pay the fees online on the official website of Rajasthan University. That's all, that’s how you can secure a seat in University Commerce College. In my course, there are 8 semesters and two examinations are conducted per semester, i.e., midterm exams and semester end exams including the practical assignments given by the college.

The fee of University Commerce College is pretty economical since it is a government college. In my case, I have applied in my course through EWS reservation where my fee was reduced. My fee per year is Rs. 5,755 including the tuition fee. The examination fee is charged separately when we need to fill the exam forms at the end semester online on the website of Rajasthan University. Students who have ST, SC, OBC and other reservation certificates can get aid in fee payment and secure a seat in the college.

The faculty of University Commerce College is average. More than 70% of the students are not attending the college as they are opting for professional courses. Sometimes teachers also don't take classes as there are very less students attending classes. But for courses like BBA and BCA, regular classes are conducted and faculties from outside the college are called to teach in the college. The overall student teacher ratio is low. Since I also don't take classes regularly in the college I don't have any personal bonding with any teacher. But at the time of examinations, the teachers are there to help the students out with their doubts even though when the college is off.

As I said earlier, the infrastructure of the college is not that good but that it justifies the fee charged though. The building is very old and cracked. The old-fashioned tables, chair and blackboards are there to teach the students. The size of the campus is very small but there is plenty of greenery. The classrooms are spacious to gather 50-60 students together. There is a library which has plenty of books for the students to study. Computer lab is also there for those who are in tech field. A shaded parking lot is there for students to park their vehicles. Two grounds are there to play outdoor sports.

My overall experience was quite good at University Commerce College as I am doing a professional course so the college campus and faculty does not affect me much. I would highly recommend this college to all those students is opting professional courses as their career. The college is not much crowded. Plenty of competitions are organized in the college including co-curricular activities and sports activities. The students in the college are friendly too and this college is a complete boy’s college.
