Admissions and Courses at Nirmala College, Muvattupuzha

My life at Nirmala College Muvattupuzha is wonderful. The campus is so beautiful and there are so many places to roam around. It also avails various extracurricular activities to engage students. Fests, interdepartmental programs, arts, sports, and film festivals, all are awesome. Teaching faculties are good and dedicated. The faculties have been exceptional, with many going above and beyond to ensure our academic success. Overall, my campus is good. I chose this college because of its NCC society as I want to join get ‘C Certificate’ course and I am currently working on it. This college’s NCC society among others under Kottayam Group. I opted for BCA course because I wanted to enhance my knowledge in coding and applications of computer.

During the time of my admission, it was through MGUCAP portal as the college is affiliated to MG University Kottayam. Now that it has gained its status of an Autonomous institute, the admission procedure has changed to some extent. For UG programs, you should pass 10+2 with sufficient marks, for PG courses, specified exams are conducted. The admission will be based on marks and other financial aids. In Nirmala, Aided and Self-financing blocks are there. I am studying in Self Financing. My degree is of 3 years where each year has 2 semesters. There are 2 internal exams in a year. The timing of college is 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Though the syllabus or curriculum helps us to gain required knowledge, it would be better if it gets updated in the future.

During the time of admission, the fee was Rs. 32,000 including admission fee, first semester fee, library fee, PTA fund, other charges, etc. During second semester, I paid Rs. 21,700, and then on third I paid Rs. 22,700. Total Rs. 45,000 per year is the course fee of BCA here. SC/ST students get financial aid so they only have to pay Rs. 7,000 per semester. Scholarships and other financial aids are available to students on the basis their merit and family income.

The faculties in my BCA department are good and supportive in curriculum and extracurricular activities conducted of the college. They are dedicated to their responsibility. Their methods include teaching through black boards, PPT, smart TV, seminars, etc. In my class, there are 69 students and in my department, there are about 200 students and 6 teaching and 1 non-teaching staff. Faculties are so much helpful and interactive with all students.

This college has a strong placement record, with top companies like Wipro, TCS, Exl Infotech, and various banks visiting the campus for recruitment. The average salary package for undergraduate students is around 2.5 LPA, while postgraduate students can expect an average package of 4 LPA. Placement cell is working actively in college. The students with above 65% without back in any of the subject are able to attend the recruitment drive and give interviews.

Yes, there are accommodation facilities in the campus. However, I don't know about them as I'm not a hostel. However, 3 hostels are there for UG students. In case of on-campus hostels, there are separate girl’s and boy’s hostel. The girl’s hostel is a secure and comfortable residence for female students, providing a homely atmosphere. The hostel has well-furnished rooms, a common room, and a dining hall. The hostel is supervised by a warden and other support staff-the supporting staffs are sisters. The Jeevajyothi Men's Hostel is a residence for male students, offering comfortable and well-maintained rooms. The hostel has a common room, a dining hall, and other amenities. The Sports Hostel is a special facility for students who have secured admission through the sports quota. This hostel provides accommodation and training facilities for students to excel in their respective sports. On the other hand, in addition to the on-campus hostels, there are several private hostels and paying guest accommodations available outside the campus.

Academic blocks include main block, diamond Jubilee block, silver jubilee block, administrative block, IGNOU center, library block, auditorium, open stage, and so on. Inside the campus, there exists, a church of Nirmala Matha, basketball court, volleyball court, football ground, cricket tunnel, badminton court, labs of various science departments, gym, gardens, etc. Smart TV is in the class. There are 4 cafeterias here along with the main canteen. All of them provide tasty and quality food. The college is full of greenery The beautiful campus, surrounded by lush greenery and the perfect ambiance for learning and growth.

My campus life at Nirmala College, Muvattupuzha, has been an incredible journey. Being part of the NCC unit has been a highlight of my college life. However, what truly make Nirmala College special are the friendships I've forged. The college has total 3000+ students studying in 15+ UG programs and 5+ PG programs. Fests, competitions, special day programs, NCC, and NSS all are a part of this college. Overall, my campus life at Nirmala College has been a transformative experience that has shaped me into the person I am today. I will always treasure the memories and lessons learned during my time and learning on these days.
