SASTRA University: Academics, Faculty, and Student Life

I chose SASTRA University as it offers valuable coaching. The course that I have taken is CSE and it's really good here. The fees are affordable and offer quality coaching when compared to other universities. It gives good campus environment. The university not only focuses on academic excellence but also emphasizes the overall experience of the students. Additionally, the campus culture is inclusive and diverse with variety of clubs, events and extracurricular activities that provide students to explore their passions and skills outside of the classroom.

The academics at SASTRA University are really good here and anyone who is interested in gaining knowledge more than having fun can prefer this university. The entry requirements are purely based on merit. The admission is based on two streams. In stream 1 they consider only marks of 12th examination. And in stream 2 they consider both JEE and 12th marks. There will be a monthly exam called CIA which they consider for internals and they have a lab exam and semester exam at the end of the semester. The academics that I prepare really help me to apply my knowledge in real life as I have the complete understanding of the subject because of the coaching that I have here.

The semester fee of my course is around Rs. 85,000. The registration and admission fee is Rs. 500 and they collect breakage amount monthly if you live in hostel. The hostel fees will be around Rs. 16,000. Scholarships and discounts are provided to students whose income is less than 2 LPA.

The faculty members at SASTRA University have good experience and knowledge about the course. They have completed Ph.D in their subjects. They use blackboard, projector for teaching and they keep organising class test and quiz to check the understanding of the subject for the students. As they have complete knowledge of the subject they solve complex problems and teach them in an easy manner to the students. The faculty members are helpfully and friendly. They guide us with the subject and clarify our doubts every time.

The placement in SASTRA University is good and great in percentage. Great companies like Amazon, Morgan Deloitte, Infosys, Intel, Microsoft, and TCS visit our university for placements. The average salary is 7.50 LPA and the highest package offered was 40 LPA.

The hostel is located inside university and the boy’s hostel is opposite to the university. There will be around 1500 students in the first year. They provide desk, chair, wardrobes and storage spaces for students. There is also a shop for buying basic amenities inside the hostel. Girls have to be inside the hostel by 6:30 pm and for boys it's 8:30 pm. The hostel has staffs in each floor for cleaning and monitoring the students. The mess food is prepared and served in a hygienic manner. To mention about the experience that I have had, I stay in a 5 in 1 room and my friends are really going well with each other. There is tennis, basketball and badminton courts inside the hostel and also has an activity area.

The infrastructure that SASTRA University has in every building is impressive. The campus size is 232 acres. The university offers variety of facilities involving libraries, football ground, basketball, tennis court, and separate buildings for each department. There are 7 to 8 canteens inside the hostel and all are pure veg. My favorite spot inside university is ASK building which has fountain in the middle of three buildings. It's really a beautiful spot and most of us take pics there.

My overall campus life is good and I enjoy every moment of it. There are a good number of clubs and students can join in any of the clubs. The clubs recruit students at the starting of each semester. I am part of the CSI society. There are two sports events that take place for 3 days. One is Coliseum and another one is Fuera. There will be a cultural fest at the end of every year called Kuruksastra where celebrities or performers are invited and students showcase their talents on stage.
