WGSHA Manipal for Hotel Management Programs

My overall experience has been amazing. There are several opportunities providing by the college to grow & learn and if you follow the simple instructions of the faculty, you will have a smooth sailing. I chose this college because it is the best college for Hotel Management in India. You should go for this college. Because of 4-year tenure of your course, you have a long time to gain knowledge of all the aspects of hotels and every other aspect. There are also careers, which are related, and you receive knowledge about them as well. Most colleges have a 3-year course and provide basic training.

I chose this course because the industry chose me, I feel motivated to work in it. The entry requirements are basic like having a basic percentage in 12th grade boards and language skills of English. The entrance process is similar to government IHMs with 2 personal interviews. The exam is similar to the NCHMCT JEE. There are 2 major exams: the mid sem and end sem in each semester. The academic is very useful as the faculties are experts in their fields and also keep taps on the industry growths to keep themselves up to date with all the developments and improvements.

The fee for my batch was 3.5 Lakh Per Annum. It is revised every year, hence I would suggest checking the fee structure. There are scholarships available and can be availed any time during the course.

All faculties are highly trained in their subjects. All of them have at least been HODs or similar posts during their times in the fields and have climbed their way through the ranks of hotels. Teaching methods include using PPTs, student projects. Faculties have great problem solving abilities as they have seen several scenarios in their time. There is 1 teacher for at least 20 to 30 students and they are also local guardians and mentors for students. I am very close to many faculty members they understand that in hospitality being cordial with all rungs of staff is important hence, they do not hesitate to be palely with students while making sure they are not taken for a spin by students.

The placement cell is run by 3 faculty members and 3 students. In the final year, it helps students by helping them train for the various company rounds. Along with that, the cell is able to bring in at least 50 companies each year. There are placement trainings held to help students be best during the process. Renowned companies that visit our college are IHCL, ITC, IHG, Oberoi, Hilton, Marriott, etc., and several other companies that are leaders of the industry. The highest packages are 6 LPA and average package is 5 LPA. I got placed in IHCL as a management trainee.

The college offers hostel facilities to students. There are over 60 to 70 rooms for girls and boys both not sure about the exact number. Girl’s and boy’s hostels are different from each other. All the hostels have washing machine facilities in the hostel. The hostel fee is 1.5 Lakh to 1.2 Lakh per annum. The mess food is good and has a good variety. There are 4 meals served breakfast, lunch, evening tea, and dinner. My personal experience in the hostel was fun and comfortable.

There are two major academic blocks: the culinary block and main WGSHA. The campus size is massive. The building, library, seminar halls, and auditoriums are present in culinary block and conference halls are present in main building and accessible to students on advance permission basis. There are two food outlets (student run) and another shop in the hostel. The university hostel is present close to the hostel. The university security is present as well. There are dedicated areas to train for all the core department jobs with all the required facilities the kitchens have the best of equipment the fib restaurant has a well equipped bar and service equipment front office labs have the opera training software same which is used by all 5 star hotels.

The campus life is great, with a wide range of experience through events and happenings around a student centric town like Manipal. The college crowd is a melting pot of India with students coming from all over the India, there are several existing clubs and more upcoming clubs as well. Extracurricular is a key part of events and these events happen frequently. There are no extra fees for events since it is mostly handled by the students and faculty themselves within the college premises. Overall, I've had a great experience.
