Affordable Fee Structure at Asutosh College, Kolkata

Asutosh College is one the best colleges of West Bengal. This college comes under one of the best universities of India, University of Calcutta. It is a Government College. Asutosh College has a long history of Alumni who are very famous now. The College has a variety of courses to offer to the students. Fees of courses are also less compared to private colleges. Placement is also good in professional courses. Overall Asutosh College is a good college and I enjoyed a lot there as fests were arranged on a regular basis. Competitions, camps, NCC camps, NSS camps, etc. were also held regularly.

I was enrolled in the B.Sc (Industrial Fish and Fisheries). Now it is a 4 years course but earlier it was of 3 years. I actually joined this course as I have a keen interest in Biology and to be more specific studying about aquatic animals. It is one the best colleges of Kolkata so the cut off for admission is really very high. You can't get admission if you don't have minimum 80 percent in class 12th.

Fees at Asutosh College are very less compared to private colleges. In my course it was Rs. 18,000 per semester. Discounts are available for SC/ST category students. Scholarships are also available like SVMCM, and more.

Faculty at Asutosh College is highly qualified in each and every department. Selection of Faculty members is also very tough and they select best of the best only. They help students to understand topics properly; weak students are given proper extra classes and more attention. Practicals are also done regularly. They take us on regular field trips for more practical exposure in the specific field. They use Blackboards, smart board, and PPTs for explaining topics. Teacher to student ratio is also good. The faculty members are really friendly and cooperative.

Placement cell is present at Asutosh College. Placement in professional courses is regular and ranges from good to decent packages. Package ranges from 12 LPA to 3.5 LPA.

Hostel facility is also available at Asutosh College the number of rooms is actually increasing so I can't give the exact numbers now. It is a Ragging free hostel and seniors are very friendly. Girls and boys hostel are separate. Mess food is hygienic and of good quality. Hostel fees are around Rs. 10,000 per year. Hall day, sports, etc. type of recreational activities are also held regularly.

Asutosh College’s Campus is really big, full of gardens, lakes and big play ground. Gym and swimming pool are also there for maintaining the health and fitness of students. Auditorium, seminar hall, and conference hall are also available here. Medical facilities and ambulance is also there for the students. Library is really big and has a large range of books. Security guards are always alert. My favorite place is the common room where we used to play chess, carrom, and table tennis. In classrooms, facilities like projectors, smart board, and black board are available for explaining topics. All the classrooms are well furnished and have proper ventilation, benches, and chairs. College canteen is very hygienic and food is also good, price is decent.

Campus life at Asutosh College is really awesome, college crowd is huge. Lots of clubs are there, like Drama club, theatre club, sports club, dance club, singing club, NSS, NCC, etc. I was in NSS. College organises various events like many music bands come regularly, spring fest, winter fest, sports meet celebrities also come frequently for their movie promotion, etc. Alumni meet is also held here. Campus life here in Asutosh College is really diverse, you need to select your area of interest and do the best.
