MGMMC Indore for Aspiring MBBS Students

My overall experience at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College, Indore is good. The campus is very big and the hospital affiliated to it is MY hospital and many others. I chose this college because it ranks first in Madhya Pradesh and is one of the oldest colleges in Madhya Pradesh. The hospital is huge and regular posting are scheduled from second year onwards. So, overall the college campus is scattered at many places but the campus is huge.

I chose to do MBBS from Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College, Indore. In order to be eligible to take admission in this college, the person should have cracked NEET UG exam and secured the cutoff marks which are different for different years. Once the person has qualified NEET UG then all India and state counseling is done. It is overall a 5.5 year course of which one year is for internship. Exams occur very frequently. According to the current curriculum 1st and 2nd year are of 13 months each, 3rd year is of ten months, and 4th year is of 17 months. Followed by one year internship. Total there are 19 subjects in the whole course.

Tuition fee for the course is Rs.1,75,000. Registration fee was Rs. 14,000 which is taken at the time of admission. Different sorts of scholarships are also given and through it tuition fee is reduced. My tuition Fee is Rs. 1,00,000.

The professors teaching in the college are doctors who are specialized in their respective subjects. The teachers here are good and are very knowledgeable. Teaching method includes the use of blackboards and smart boards though mostly PPTs are used. In the hospital, the teachers teach various cases clinically and we see patients for better clinical approach. Teachers are available for problem solving in the staff room and in the hospital. The teachers explain all the topics very nicely.

Internship is done in the college and students are paid for it.

Yes, there are hostels. These are sharing rooms. A room is shared by two people. The girls and boys hostel are separate. The quality of mess food is average. Food is provided two times in a day lunch and dinner. The breakfast is also available but on everyday pay basis. Hostel fee is Rs. 12,000 annually which makes just Rs. 1,000 per month.

The campus is inclusive of the college building and hospitals like MY hospital, MTH hospital of Obs Gynae department, and Chacha Nehru hospital for Pediatrics department. So, overall the campus is huge and is located at Shivaji Vatika, in front of AICTSL. There are many classrooms and labs in the college. There are different labs for different subjects. Auditorium, reading room, and seminar hall are present in the college as well as in the hospital. Sports facility is available such as badminton, cricket, table tennis, etc. Canteen is also there in the college.

My overall campus life is good. The college is well crowded as students of all five years are there as well as post graduate students are present too. College does not have any sorts of clubs. Various activities are there in the college such as badminton competition, table tennis, and cricket competition. Gym is also present in the college. Fests are also organized in the college but not on a regular basis. Fests occur on every 2-3 years. So overall my experience is great in the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College, Indore.
