Admissions in B.Tech CSE at GIET Khorda: Eligibility, Fees & Scholarships

GIET Khorda is almost 30 to 40 KM away from the capital city Bhubaneswar, surrounded by hills. The faculties are good as they have good command over their subject. It conducts events time to time. For examples Sanskriti program, Hackathon, debate competition, etc. The fee is low as compared to other Engineering institutes; total fee is up to 6 Lakh. The placements package goes around 8 LPA to 10 LPA. I will say that the institute is currently under construction. It has its own very big playground, a basketball court, and an NCC and NSS unit too. Regardless of few things, I will say this institute is pretty good to look forward to.

I am enrolled in the B.Tech, 4-year program. For admission in CSE branch of this institute, at least 60% in board exams and 50 to 60 percentile in JEE Main are necessary. The admission process in this institute is quite simple. This institute usually takes many exams in a particular semester. First, one is assignment 1, then, there is surprise test 1, which is followed by class test 1. Same cycle goes on for next round and the semester ends by Viva and final exams. Well, the academics are good because it teaches each subject in depth. In short, I will say that the academics here are a good one.

The fee of the institute is pretty good. For me, the year wise fee for B.Tech CSE is Rs. 1,38,000 including hostel fees. Many students who study in this institute are from Bihar and Odisha. The registration fee is around Rs. 5,000 rupees. Per semester, you have to do the registration of each subject, which costs round Rs. 1,000 to 2,000. Besides this, there are no other charges. Yes, it does provide scholarship to SC, ST, and OBC students.

In first year, you have total of 10 subjects including 6 theory subjects and 4 labs. The theory teachers were just awesome. The teachers here always try to teach us using good techniques; like by illustrating examples. They also give proper assignments. The faculty and student bond is just awesome. The faculty to student ratio is about 1:40, which is pretty much decent.

I am in first year so I do not know much about the placements of GIET Khorda but yeah, there is a placement cell in our institute. I usually see many placement drives happening in our institute.

Yes, GIET Khorda has the residential facilities. The institute has around 10 buildings for hostels. In each building, there are 3 floors and a total of 200 rooms with 4 students stay in one room. The room size is pretty decent. Mess food is provided to all the students and hence, no cooking is allowed. However, the quality and hygiene can be much better. The girls and boys’ hostels are separate. It provides mess food 3 times one in the morning with the breakfast, and then lunch and then dinner. The hostel gate opens at 6 AM in the morning and closes at 8 PM in the night. My personal experience in the hostel is pretty decent.

The infrastructure in the institute is pretty much good. The institute overall look is pretty much good. It has a one 7-floored building where each facility is good. It has an auditorium where it hosts most of the events. Administrative offices are mostly in ground and second floor. The classes are usually held on 2nd floor. The library is at 1st floor with a proper Wi-Fi connection throughout the campus. The campus size is very big. Apart from that, it has a very big playground, garden, fountains, trees, and many other things. The Canteen is located at a separate place. The security here is fine with many CCTV cameras and security guards. The emergency medical facilities are also well. My favorite in the entire institute is the garden where I go to relax after having a tough day. I also prefer library where I can sit and study peacefully.

I would say my overall campus life is well and good. It is pretty much convenient to be here. The institute has a lot of clubs to join like dance & drama club, photography club, elite group club, coding club, and a bunch of other club. You can join and participate in any of the club. The institute usually organizes lot of activities. Recently, it organized a debate competition, Sanskriti program, national level Hackathon, and others. The institute has an annual fest known as GarimaaX, which is very interesting. This annual fest has a series of competitions of various domains. In short, I will say I am enjoying here. I wish food quality and placements are improved by time.
