ASB Kochi's MBA Programs: Entrance Exams, Admission Process, and Fees

My overall experience at ASB is wonderful. I was able to connect with the people at different companies and able to learn from their experiences. All the faculties are mostly who worked at corporate and then with that experience they are teaching students. All of them have good knowledge and hands-on experience. Many external faculties are coming to take classes. There are many committee, which help in the growth of students like Arts, specialization wise committees, colloquium committees, social outreach, Placement committee, which are under the leadership of students guided by faculty. Also corporate relations department helps with the placement of students.

The course taken by me in 2-year MBA programme with specialization in Finance and Marketing. I have been recommended by the previous year students about the good placements, which led me to take admission in the college. Eligibility criteria are based on the entrance marks like for CAT, MAT, XAT, CMAT, and AIMCAT (AMRITA), etc. In addition, an interview is conducted before taking students. Trimester system is followed so three times in a year there is exams. There is midterm and end term in first year. Second year no midterm exams are there. Admission process includes filling the online application followed by entrance test of Amrita if other entrance tests are not taken. If other entrance exam is taken, they will shortlist you and call for the interview. Here the academics follow IIM textbooks and curriculum, and exams are mostly in application level, so it can help you much.

I have chosen two-year MBA course. Trimester system is followed by fees has to be paid twice in a year in the month of June and December. Total nearly 10 lakhs has to be paid. Almost Rs. 3,00,000 in June and another 2 Lakh to be paid in December and same pattern is followed in both years. There are fee discounts based on scholarship as per rank in CAT, MAT and Amrita entrance exam. Also in second year, fees discount is given based on rank in the first year. Fees discount percentage depends on rank.

Most of the faculty members are part of corporate once and after that, they have turned to academics. They have hands-on experience to teach the students and make them ready for corporate. Many faculties are coming from outside to teach here from out of India also. Some of them are professionals working in corporate that come as guest faculty to teach the students. Teachers use pots as well as blackboards for teaching. There will be individual and group presentations, assignments, quizzes, simulations, etc. There are 8 teachers for 75 students as permanent teachers and some others come as guest lecturers. Faculty members have a good bond and always ready to clear doubts.

There is a placement cell called CIR department, which takes care of placement of students. Placement is central placement for all campuses of Amrita. Many good companies visit our college like Jio-bp, TATA, Mahindra, BNY, Deloitte, Grant Thornton, SG Analytics, Legrand, and Mother Direct. Placement related GD and interview assistance is provided. Highest package is 16 LPA. I was placed from college and got into a good company. Most of the companies are for marketing profile and finance, analytics, HR, operation profiles are less, and only few companies come for these profiles.

Hostel facility is there for boys and girls as this is a residential program. Rooms depend on number of rooms. Two sharing rooms are given. There is gym, basketball court at hostel. Hostel food is okay and has varieties but vegetarian food is only served. Boys and girls gave separate hostels. Hostel fees are paid annually almost Rs. 50,000. Hostel Timings 9 PM is closing time.

Campus has a 3-story building. In terms of space, it is not well developed. Only small ground is there. Classrooms are big with microphones, speakers and smart boards are provided. There is a library and auditorium where fests are conducted. There is a canteen where we get snacks, coffee and even parcel lunch. Sports are also held and in case of medical emergency, the college takes student to hospital. Teaching experience is better in spite of less infrastructure facilities.

Overall campus life was good in terms of experience and faculty. Arts and sports fest were also there. All the festivals are celebrated in the campus. Mostly the focus is on the education and has a good curriculum followed. Our class has strength of 75 students and our juniors are 120 in numbers. Festival, colloquium, sports, specialization based, social outreach, placement committees are there which are led by students with the support of faculty.
