Fee Structure at IIM Rohtak for IPL Program

Indian Institute of Management Rohtak is the place for you if you are the kind of individual who values academic success over other achievements most. If you are also one who is willing to sacrifice and dedicate most of their time to studies, rather than indulging in gossip, drama and other distractions, and instead diverting this energy to growth, discipline, and towards your career, then this is where you are meant to be. The hostel facilities in this institute will be very different from the comfort space you have at your home. Hence, I would suggest IIM Rohtak to only those students who feel are resilient enough, wish for a change and genuinely wish to learn from their institute experience.

I have chosen the course Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Legislative Law (BBA.LL.B). This is the only IIM branch that offers this course. I chose this course because I one day want to go into corporate law. The entry requirement was the CLAT score, along with personal interview. In the personal interview I was asked questions about general knowledge, current affairs- such as current chief justice, CM's, I was told to give an impromptu speech on any random topic by the interviewer, and I was asked about my past academic record, and any extracurricular activities that I have been involved in. Your co- curricular activities do play a big role in the selection process, as the institute requires their students to be all rounder’s. After selection, the academics involve a range of subjects from statistics, programming, probability, business, IT, to Law of Torts, Law of Contracts, Consumer Protection Law, Sociology, Psychology, etc. We have 3 terms each year, and about 7-8 subjects per term along with the term research paper. There are 2 exams conducted in each term- the mid semester exam & the end semester exam. It is a very rigorous schedule as it teaches you how to manage such heavy academics while balancing your social relationships, hobbies, and writing research papers.

The fee structure for the 1st year is Rs. 6,42, 000. This is the same for the first 4 years, and the last year includes fee of Rs. 6,79, 450 for the whole year. This is charged along with Rs. 90,000 for hostel & mess fees, security deposit of Rs. 10,000 for first years, Rs. 10,000 for development fee each year. For the first year separate admission fee is also given. Scholarships are given to the 5 toppers of the batch.

The faculty at IIM Rohtak is amazing. All of the faculty have an amazing CV, and have extensive professional experience in big companies. We use PPT's, blackboards, and group discussions for teaching. Sometimes laptops are required in subjects such as programming and IT. The teacher student ratio is 1:13. Bonding with faculty is however not allowed in the institute. Faculties are very helpful, and are always willing to help with any programs the student might be facing.

The placement cell in IIM Rohtak is managed by few students and few faculties. It helps in acquiring jobs by contacting big corporate companies. We often have guest lectures at our institute by the owners of these companies, to help us form a relationship with them. Deloitte, Bain, Infosys, Microsoft, and multiple banks are some of the few companies that come for recruitment. Packages have not yet been announced for the BBA.LL.B course, as the first batch will be graduating this year. However, it is assumed that the packages will be similar to the IPM program- ranging from 18 LPA to 36 LPA.

Hostel is offered in the institute. Boys’ and girls’ hostels are different but the infrastructure is the same. In girls' hostel, there are 4 floors, consisting of 14 rooms per floor, and each room accommodates 4 girls. The batches consist of 1st, 2nd, & 3rd year Law students and the junior most batches of the management students. There is a common washroom and bathroom for each floor. One whole hostel building has 3 washing machines. Mess food is okay. Hostel & mess fee together is Rs. 90,000 per year. Hostel in time is 8:30 PM for 1st years, and it increases by 30 mines after each increasing year. Lights out also happens at 10:00 PM and it is required to carry your own table lamp. Hostel experience here is tough but unique, and it takes a while to get used to it.

The campus is 600 acres, there is one academic block where all classes are held. Classrooms seat around 40-50 students. Facilities such as a library, a seminar hall, Nescafe, are provided. There is a doctor available each afternoon. There is a sports centre where the gym, badminton court is available. An ambulance is also there. My favorite part of the campus is the area near the hostel, as it is full of greenery and a nice place to walk.

My campus life is very restricted due to the early in- time, but other than that, the crowd is very good. I have found good friends here. There are clubs here, from singing clubs, to placement clubs to dance clubs, etc. However, clubs are only allowed for students of the second year onwards, so I am not a part of any club yet. There are occasional seminars and lectures organized by the institute. We have annual inter-institute fests at our institute, called Infusion. The campus life of the institute is good otherwise, there are many things to do to keep yourself occupied, if you look for those means.
