Computer Science from SIES GST Navi Mumbai through CET

When I was first preparing for CET, I had planned to take admission in SIES GST Navi Mumbai only and when my scores came out I applied for this college and got it in third CAP round. I chose this college because many of my relatives and friends had recommended it. I am in the Computer Engineering department, and currently going to go in the third year. My overall experience is good. I would say it’s one of the best colleges you could get from CET. Most of my experience was good, but the first year was very tough (I mean every first year is tough but slowly you get hang of it and its normal) but my second year went way better than the first because I was not comfortable you can say but believe me, once your first year ends you are at a very easy phase.

I chose the Computer-Engineering course because I really like programming ever since I was in class 12th coding fascinated me and I always wanted to be a programmer. The cut off for Computer engineering course is very high nearly 95. I would say and most of the seats are given to south Indian quota students but yes, if you have a really good score you will definitely get admission to this course. Basic eligibility is passed 12th standard and a good score in this entrance exam. The admission process is via CAP. Currently, the college has become autonomous, ours was the last batch of non-autonomous. For me I would say the first year was very hard (I was not able to understand what was happening) but slowly I started to get grip of it and the second year went good the exams are held in 3 parts 2 Internal assessment papers of 20 marks average of both is taken for final result and 1 end semester of 80 marks and practicals are also taken for some subjects. I would say the exams mainly focus on degree subjects and for academics, you should focus on other courses for real life challenges.

Fee for all the courses are same which is around Rs. 1,31,422 (can go up or down).

The faculty is really good. Many of the faculties are PhD holders and have a really good experience in teaching their respective subjects. Most of the faculty members are really friendly and would help you if you ask they teach using both ppts and blackboards personally, I prefer blackboards because it helps you understand better. The faculties are really good at problem solving and would always try finding solutions for a given problem. They will also help you in projects and many a times discussions are also held between students and professors the teacher student ration is average I would say. My experience in bonding with faculty is good, they are very friendly and would always give you a good honest report on your progress.

Currently, I am just going to go in third year so don’t know much about the placement procedure but there is a placement cell. Major recruiters are TCS, Capgemini, Infosys, Jio, KPMG, and L&T.

The departments are divided in different buildings but there are major buildings one is of MBA and the other is of GST. In GST, the departments are divided on various floors like the ground floor is for camps, the above ones are for other departments the labs are also located on first and ground floors. There is one big canteen at centre of college sports room is also available. The best part about the college. The most important one and my favorite is I would say is the NSS unit located on 1st floor. They teach you many things, which are really important, and its very fun overall the infrastructure is good and well oriented.

The overall campus life is really good. Many events are also held in the college. There is not a major crowd. I would say only when you have to switch classrooms, you might run into a crowd of students but other than that not much. There are many clubs in the college, the sports, CSI, IEEE, AAGMI, etc. Many seminars and events are organized in the college overall campus life is really good.
