Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology M.Tech Review By Aditya Tiwari

I took admission in 2019 after one year of my graduation completion. My first year in NIT Bhopal was good and I learn a lot in that year but in my second year lockdown happened and that was disaster for my college life because my college fest was cancelled due to the rise in covid cases. I got my degree in covid. Fee per year for the post graduation course is Rs. 60,000 per year. I choose data science in my master of technology because my seniors at the university told me to opt for the data science. I choose this institute because of the courses which this institute offers because this institute offers courses for the future technology.

I enrolled in the Data Science course in NIT Bhopal and I got it in the CCMT counselling which happen after the GATE exam qualification. Since I have unplaced after my graduation, one of senior suggested me to prepare for the GATE exam such that I can apply in the top technical institute of the country and I got 7338 Rank in GATE exam and for this rank I got this course in the institute. To be eligible for this course one must have done their graduation in the computing branches and other than the computing branches are not allowed. There are four semester in whole program from which 3 semester are composed of theory classes and practical classes while in 4 semester we have to submit the final projects and have to publish at least two research paper published from IEEE conference.

All the teachers in the Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology are very experienced and they have done their PhD from IITs and some of them have done their doctorate from the reputed foreign universities. In my course some of the teacher taught us online because they live in America and they took classes through MS teams because classes became online in the Corona time. All the faculty members that taught us in 1 and 2 semester were very experienced and their style of teaching is also good. In my final year project some of my teachers helped me to get the idea for the project such that I could make good projects which can improve some existing technology by using data analysis. Since this course is a new course hence faculty members also study the subjects of the course.

Placements are good in the NIT Bhopal because this is a government technical institute and many good companies visit the institute especially for the computing branch students because most of the companies in the world are computing or software based. Many good companies like Deloitte, Microsoft, TCS, Josh Group, Goldman Sachs, Jindal Steel, HCL, James Street, Mahindra, Samsung etc. visit the campus every year with good package. Average package for the institute was 8 LPA in my batch and highest package was of 44 LPA which was offered by Microsoft for the software development engineer. Placement cell in the institute work with good intent to provide job to most of the students. Placement cell help in getting job to the students and they also arrange training classes for the needy students.

Hostel is good in NIT Bhopal because they give facilities to the students like free Wireless Fidelity and free cloth washing service which is included in the college fee. Overall hostel fee is Rs. 35,000 for whole year which is not high because they provide many facilities to the students. There are also day scholars in the college because they live near the campus. But day scholars face many problems in the campus because college timing and breaks are according to the college hostel students and in this way college students suffer a lot in many ways. I was astonished by the taste of food here because it was better than home and reason for that is that they arrange student meeting to decide the food menu in the mess. There are various paying guest facilities are available for the students to get but their charge is high.

Campus is huge and it is spread over 600 acres of area, there are many buildings in the campus with lot of free space and greenery in the institute. Some of the area of the institute is void and does not have any resource there. Students require cycle to move inside the campus because library is 2 Kilometer away from the academic block. There is a proper building dedicated to the library which is divided in more than 7 parts including one digital library. There is a state of art international level auditorium in the institute which has seating limit more than 800. There are more than 3 big grounds in the institute for the student's activities and for the extra curriculum activities. Classrooms are good and arranged in the low to high manner so back bencher can also see the teacher. Institute infrastructure is its main highlight.

Life in the NIT Bhopal is good and it has much to offer for the students. There are 4 main fest that happen in the institute from which two were cancelled due to covid and only two were organized properly before covid. One fest is TECHNO SEARCH which is technical fest for the tech enthusiast to participate and to win cash prizes and it happen in the month of November after Diwali. Another fest that happened before the lockdown happened was RUNN which is sports event which happen on the inter-institute level and this happens in the month of February. Two fest which was cancelled was TOORYANAAD and GIGA NIGHT which happens in the month of April and June respectively. There are many clubs in the NIT Bhopal like Robotics Clubs, Numbers Clubs, Innocode Club, and SOWEL club and many more and all the clubs are maintained and managed by the club presidents which are generally students.
