Overall Rating
My overall experience at Government Medical College, Jammu has been very promising. It is one of the most renowned Government Colleges for MBBS and offers a wide range of experiences and cases to learn from. The theoretic learning is different but the practical cases is what differentiate this College from other Colleges. I highly recommend students to look forward to take admission in this College, if they want to learn beyond books and dive deeper into the medical field.
 

Academics Rating
I have chose Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). The main reason I chose this course because I was interested in becoming a Pediatrician and treat little kids. To enroll into this course students have to take the NEET UG exam after their 12th Grade, students who had Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as their main subject are eligible. Term Exams are held monthly along with one final exams. The academics here are very strong and have helped me learn not just about the study stuff but also about how to communicate with people of different backgrounds, understand their problem, and how to treat people, etc.
The fee of my course is Rs. 9000/- annually. The fees change each year. In my opinion, it is a lot lower than other Colleges which makes it even more affordable for all kinds of people. There are no specific discounts for any category of students, however scholarships and financial aids are available.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty is well educated. Doctors are passed out from reputed Institutions like GMC, AIIMS, MAMC, etc. which makes them very well equipped with essential knowledge. They use practical learning like dissections and lab visits as a method to teach along with theoretical learning. The teacher student ratio is balanced which avoids unnecessary confusion and doubts. My experience with the faculty has been great and they are very approachable.
 

Placement Rating
You don’t get placements particularly in a Medical College, however you can earn a stipend of Rs. 12,000/- during your internship period. My internship experience was great I got to learn various things in all departments of Medical Science and it helped me develop interest.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes, GMC Jammu does offer residential facilities. There are separate hostels for boys and girls. The food is also of good quality and the hostel provides 3 to 4 meals per day. The hostel fees is around Rs. 5000/- annually. All festivals are celebrated in the College hostel like Holi, Eid, Christmas, and Guru Purnima. The hostel timings are till 8 PM.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The campus has a good infrastructure with separate blocks. The College block is separate along with library, laboratories, cafeteria, and many others. There is also a separate block for hospital with OPD emergency. The infrastructure is properly planned. The College also provides students with transport facility. My favorite place is the library where I spent most of my time after the classes, to study and make notes.
 

Campus Rating
The overall campus life is very interactive where you get to interact with seniors and learn so much from them. The crowd is diversified with people from various backgrounds and castes which fosters a healthy environment for students. Extracurricular activities like Sports Day and TEDx events are often organised by the College. The experience is amazing for me at this College; I hope it will be the same for you too.
