1st year fee of B.A at Mount Carmel College is Rs. 60,600/-

So, before joining Mount Carmel College I had no idea as to what MCC Bangalore will be in sense of experience and all the other things other than academics. But now, as I am in my 2nd year of College, I am grateful that I chose this College for my course. The College offers a mixture of fun and academics. The professors here are very open, and they are more than happy to help us whenever we are in any kind of trouble. There are many associations as well which helps a student to explore their creative side and also have some work experience. Overall, for me, joining this College was a great decision and I would also recommend others to join this College.

One of my top reasons for choosing this College was my course which is a triple major in History, Economics and Political Science, this was a course through I could choose whatever I feel has the best opportunity. According to me, it is important for us to keep our options open because we never know what is in store for us in the future. The eligibility criteria are quite simple as well, one needs to have more than 60% in Class 12th to enroll and after that there is an interview conducted which will determine your selection. Once you receive that conformation email, there will be a link attached to pay your fees and book your admission. One should note that there is a time limit frame in which you need to complete the process. So, this particular course is a 3-year program having 6 semesters. We have one internal exam and one end-semester exam every semester. Other than that, we also have assignments to fulfill which adds to our total marks. I also have an extra language (German) and English in my course which adds to my credit score. This particular course does prepare me for real-life challenges.

The fee of my course is quite low. For my first year I paid around Rs. 60,600/- which may vary for others since I have an extra language course and for my second year I paid an amount of around Rs. 53,300/-. My tuition fee for my first year was Rs. 24,142/-, apart from that I was charged with the language fee of Rs. 4500/-. There was also exam fee which was supposed to be paid. The fee is also charged for other things like College magazine, fests, etc. and these will all be listed on your fee receipt. There are no hidden charges. There are also a few discounts for students belonging to Karnataka state. Students from SC/ ST / OBC category also get discounts on their fees. There are some scholarships provided to the students as well but I am not aware of them so far.

Our faculty is quite qualified, and I personally feel that I am quite lucky to be taught by them. These professors are well-educated. Many are Ph.D qualifiers and many are pursuing their Ph.Ds. They have unique ways of teaching. They prepare PPTs and explain everything in detail. They organize debates, group discussions, etc. which makes the class sessions much more interactive. The professors are always ready to solve any doubts we have. The one thing I like most about my professors is that they know each and every one individually and they ask everyone to come up with the doubts they have. Students can also take their doubts outside the class.

There is a placement cell in our College which helps us get internships and they even organise career fairs. Students are also a part of the placement cell, so that they can have some experience in management. Many reputed companies like Goldman Sachs, Deloitte and others come for placements at the College.

The College does have a hostel in the campus, but the hostel does not have enough accommodations to accommodate every student so recently they have also made hostels outside the campus. The hostel in-campus is a girls’ hostel but now they do have off-campus boys’ and girls’ hostels. I myself have not opted for the hostel because the curfew timings were too strict so I have no opinions about the mess food, but I have heard that it is not that bad. The hostels are very secure.

There are around 6 academic blocks. They are MTB, LSCB, MOC, GJB, New Admin and DJB. Every block has 1-2 seminar halls; conference rooms and the auditorium is in DJB. Every class is equipped with a projector. There is a library, and it is also well-structured with numerous knowledge centers. There are well-equipped labs as well. We also have a canteen which serves hygienic and healthy meals. We also have a medical room and there is transport facility for PG students only. The security is top-notch, and the students are well-taken off. My favorite thing about the campus would be the amphitheatre or the Basketball court. We also have an archive which has beautiful antique artifacts and it also withholds the history of our College.

I would say I had a pretty good campus life at MCC Bangalore. The College crowd is a good bunch of people. There are many associations one can take part in. There are academic clubs as well as arts clubs for activities like Dance, Music and so on. I am a part of the History association; I am a core team member in the events department. I would suggest everyone to join associations as it shapes how you manage any particular situation and also you learn communicate well with new and different people. There are many fests and events organised. Our most famous fest is 'CULAH' in which students from other Colleges also come. Students can also get opportunities to be a part of the NSS team which has national recognition. Festivals like Christmas, Independence Day, and others are also celebrated in the College.
